Rated 4 von 5 von William aus Warmer than most and well-built but still a little cold for me I wanted these for ski patrol work but I wanted to use them for recreational skiing as well My main concern before I bought was that other mitts have left my fingers cold after an hour or so of skiing. The fact these were listed as sub-zero rated was encouraging. Sadly, they did not keep my fingers, and particularly the lone index finger, warm so I returned them thanks to the good graces of Black Diamond. Perhaps the problem is my hand circulation as I have had problems with other mitts and gloves. I can say these were well-constructed and looked very durable. Other patrollers recommended them for the work.
Rated 5 von 5 von Brian aus Keeps your hands warm Used these gloves on a diving exercise in the Canadian Arctic and they worked excellent down to around -40C. I definitely recommend using them with a liner glove. With the liner gloves my hands were warm, even down to temperatures of -66C after the wind-chill. The only time my hands got cold was when travelling on the snowmobile. Despite being wet some of the time due to ocean water and sweat, they still performed to my expectations and above their rating. The only complaint I have is in the amount of insulation on the bottom side of the palms and fingers, hence the need for a liner glove.
Rated 5 von 5 von Joe L aus Only gotten better This is the second time I have bought this glove. Since I bought it last, they have made some awesome improvements. The wrist drawstring is super easy to use and has a low profile if you want to keep it under your sleeve instead of over. Actually, overall the glove has a lower profile, which is nice, yet it hasn't changed in warmth. I like that they added the pad on the thumb to keep snotsicles from getting too out of control, and they also added an attachment point near the tips for drying out the gloves after a wet day. Used for ice climbing (great for belaying) and splitboarding. Would recommend.
Rated 5 von 5 von Stanton aus Very warm and durable lobster mittens While it is true that the cold temp rating is generous they are the warmest lobster mitten I've found. The fit is initially very tight in the index finger but they loosen up to a nice firm fit after a while and the boiled wool doesn't pack out like pretty much all other non boiled wool gloves. The leather is very durable but flexible and waterproofing lasts a long time on these gloves for reasons I don't understand. I use them for touring and downhill when the weather drops below 15 or so and the warmth + dexterity combo is great.
Rated 5 von 5 von Kevin aus Excellent, maybe the best warm glothere I have problems with cold fingers so did some research on these BD gloves and the comparable Hestra army gortex. I actually bought both to compare. This BD is much warmer. I skied this weekend in 30degree and my fingers were sweating. I like the pull out gortex insert as well. The Hestra does not have that. For 0 or below, I bought ibex merino wool inserts which fit fine inside this. I also thought the index finger and thumb functioned well, not stiff. The size runs slightly large but not bad Eg I bought same size in this BD as my prior Gordini gloves.
Rated 5 von 5 von Stephanie aus Toasty warm on those really cold days and fit true to size This past week I wore these gloves when the feels like was -4 and -8. They kept my fingers toasty warm. In fact, these gloves are much warmer than my old mercury mitts. Love them! They do take about 5 days of skiing to break in. On warmer days in the upper 20s and 30s, I wear my old mercury mitts as the guide finger glove are too warm.
Rated 3 von 5 von Skier K aus Too Tight Looking for a very warm glove with more dexterity than my mittens. I have a five finger BD glove that I love. Anyway, this Guide Finger Glove was way too bulky inside and tight, in spite of the size XL. I could not move my fingers well at all. My mittens are much more comfortable and very warm, so I returned these.
Rated 5 von 5 von Joel aus Highly recommended This is my third pair of Guide gloves. I've been using this glove model/line for maybe 15 years? Can't remember when they first came out. The materials, stitching and fit are excellent. Typically I end up wearing the inner down to the point where they still work but aren't as warm. They have never leaked front or back country, including overnight tours, and Pacific NW snow conditions (wet). As I've gotten older my hands have become more sensitive to the cold. This time around I went with the trigger as I have a pair of previous year's Legend gloves for warmer conditions. Just got back from 3 days of tele at Mt. Bachelor with parking lot temps in the mid teens and colder and windy on the mountain. My fingers were a little cold at times but for my hands this was great performance for the conditions. Thanks Black Diamond!
