Epic powder and sunshine at the first stop of The BigLePowSki Freeride Tour in La Grave
The BigLePowSki Tour kicked-off last weekend, with the first stop in La Grave, France. Our event manager Ricky sent us this report.
On Friday, the strong winds and heavy snowfall closed the tram and things weren't looking promising for the event. The Dude received a surprising SMS early Saturday morning from the Head of Ski Patrol, Jean-Charles: no wind and blue skies up at the top station at 3200m. It was 'game-on', fresh powder and perfect visibility in the freeride mecca under la Meije.

The Freeride Workshops for Beginners, Advanced and Girls Only were led by David Pitschmann, Ueli Kestenholz and Petra Haltmayr, to the delight of all the participants. The Ski-Tour with Ptor Spricenieks on his home mountain was experienced by a small lucky group, while many other missed this epic Tour stuck in a traffic-jam in Grenoble.

The first day was righteously celebrated, as expected. Our Canadian guests, photographer Jordan Manley and pro skier Chad Sayers, put on an mind-blowing slide-show in The Macoomba Bar. And to end the perfect day, our host Sergio rocked out with his band 'Queen Elvis' til the wee hours.

The Dude slept in just a bit longer on Sunday morning, but with another day of nice weather and awesome snow, five more Workshops took place and all of the BD test-skis were out on the mountain.

Next weekend the good times continue, as The BigLePowSki heads to Brighton, Utah (USA). Whoever can't get over to the States on short notice should definitely sign-up for the 3rd stop of the BigLePowSki Tour on March 5-7 in Davos-Schatzalp, Switzerland. The Dude's last stop will happen on March 19-21 in St Anton, Austria.
Be there or be square!
