Giving Back
Quite simply, we love to give back. Since the early days of the company, we've been supporting organizations and communities that are critical to the survival of our sports. Recognizing the interdependence between the environment and the sports of climbing and skiing is more than a philosophy-it is the lifeblood of our business. So it's natural and essential to support sustainable business practices as is an integral part of Black Diamond's culture. It is our responsibility to play a key role in our local community and the climbing and freeride skiing communities at large-it is as important to us as the gear we create.
We take a three-fold approach to conservation at Black Diamond focusing on 1) decreasing the environmental footprint of our production and operations; 2) building products with sustainability in mind; and 3) supporting grassroots environmental groups and campaigns on local and national levels. Put simply, we are continually auditing our product line, manufacturing processes and business practices to conserve more energy, limit our impacts and produce climbing and skiing gear that performs superbly and lasts as long as possible, while incorporating evolving technologies and materials that are more sustainable. On a grassroots level, we aim to support local causes and movements wherever we do business. In addition, we are proud to be a founding member of EOG Association of Conservation. http://www.eogconservation.org
Bottom line: While Black Diamond is far from perfect and we have much work ahead of us, we hope that through our focus and our actions as a responsible corporate citizen, we can also be a role model for others, and collectively we all can make a difference-now and in the future-in the conservation of our sacred mountain, canyon and crag environments.
