BD team out in the Basel Jura
The first beautiful fall days have enticed us outside on a jaunt to the Gempen together after work. The area we selected is just a few minutes by car from our office door and lies tempting in the evening sun. The Gempen is in our back yard, it's the highest bit of ground around, it's a playground for mountain bikers, hikers and climbers too. Like is was made for us, there is a wonderful southwest facing cliff at the top of the hill. It's called Schartenfluh, „Gämpe" in Basel German. It's built ideally for office stressed climbers who can barely sit still and like to blow off steam on the vertical after calling it a day at the office.

The Basel Jura is not Céüse. It ain't Siurana or the Frankenjura either. But it's a neat little area that shines in many ways. It's right at Basel's front door and the number of climbers is quite limited. If you like technical yet athletic climbs, check out the Basel Jura. More than 3,000 routes and more than 800 boulder problems are waiting for potential ascensionists here. If you're also at home on small slippery holds, pack a pair of new rock shoes and head for the Dreiländereck, the border region between France, Switzerland and Germany. And if you don't like that, you can at least belay your girlfriend...

On this evening outing, our BD bouldering collection designer, Fluebibel author, B2 climbing gym owner and star photograper Mike was with us. We thank him for these beautiful pictures.
Wishing you many more wonderful fall climbing days,
Your Black Diamond Team
