VIDEO: BD athlete Ines Papert ice buildering at the International Ice and Snow Festival in Harbin, China
Black Diamond athlete Ines Papert traveled to the International Ice and Snow Festival in town of Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province northern China. Organizers of the festival allowed her to climbed on many of the massive ice structures. A small ice archway in the middle of the city (and outside of the festival), however, also caught her eye and she made a quick poach of the ice arch. Below are two videos, one of Ines climbing the festival structures and one of the her poaching the urban ice arch (complete with footage of Ines running through the streets wearing crampons).

a good showcase of a professional athlete without the slightest idea of professionalism or respect for other professions, in this case that of an ice sculptor who probably had spent a lot of time putting together these pieces of work for an city to showcase to hundreds of thousands of visitors. just because flowers grow back every year doesn't mean it's okay to trample someone's botanical garden. and BD endorses this? the company should be embarrassed to see its products being used in such a manner.

I agree with the other comments. The second video shows a level of disrespect that is simply unacceptable of a professional. This really changes my opinion of Ines.
BD, you can do better then this.

Very different attitude between the two videos... the hit and run mission in the center of the city strikes me as rather disrespectful stunt with little value that leaves a bad aftertaste.

I agree. Why chip away something so beautiful when there is so much ice to climb. BD doesn't need this kind of promotion to be a good product.

This struck me as more ridiculous than the numbskulls of “Urban Climber Mag” who pose for a snapshot while scaling modern art sculptures. Those ice sculptures are far too impressive to be chipped away at in the name of being eccentric. Mother nature has given us more than enough ice to climb elsewhere.
