Example #1398 why wearing a helmet is a good idea

Need another reason to wear a helmet? Check out this email and photo we received from a climber in Portland, Oregon. Good thing he had his Tracer on!

Subject: Savior Hemet

I thought you guys might want to see pictures of the helmet that saved my life. I was hit by a rock at least 6-inches in diameter traveling at high velocity during a climb of Mt. Shuksan in the North Cascades with the Mazamas out of Portland. I experienced no ill effects after it bounced off my helmet. This helmet has clearly done the job I bought it for, but if you see any promotional value in it I would be glad to send it you in exchange for a new one.

    Hey, I'm the guy who was lead climbing and knocked the rock onto Lew's head. And from my perspective, I am also very glad that Lew had no ill effects.

    Ouch! I once received a rope that a guy throw from a top-rope setting. Just a rope and I felt it. He wasn't injured but I'm sure he was stunned.
