I'm sure there's all kinds of things that can be done to improve just about anything. With that said, I love both my Apollo and Orbit. They are great jusat the way they are. Reality is, whenever you rely on a battery anything you are limited to the life of that battery. I use mine for basics and emergency. I'm a hunter and am in the wood and tent a lot.

    Hello:
I would like to suggest a lantern that uses 1.5 volt super-bright LEDs with the batteries wired in parallel.
This would allow the user to install between one and four batteries depending on the duration of their trip and the amount of weight in batteries they want to carry.
Sometimes I don't want the weight of four AA batteries, and for one or two nights I don't need 24 hours of light.
    Thank you,
    Ian

I love my Orbit lantern. With all the back country hiking biking skiing and other outdoor adventures its awesome. I would love to see a few aditional changes/ add-ons. 1 a solar recharging kit for the battery. 2 a red led for preserving night vison. 3 a reflector to clip on some how to turn it form a 360 degree to a directional 180 degree. I would love to buy a few more to keep around the house and with differnt gear as well as gifts but knowing my luck i would buy them then you woudl come out wiht a newer version with the changes. Thank you for making great gear and keep up the good work.

I've owned the Orbit lantern now for several months, and use it often. Two areas for improvement in my view. First the tint of the LED is cold white. I would much prefer a high output neutral LED such as the CREE Q4 3A. The warmer tinted LEDs are easier on the eyes, have better color rendering. The second is instead of AAA batteries, which none of my other camping gear takes, would prefer AA batteries, with support for Lithium AA primaries.

Thanks for the feedback, Fred. The battery charge indicator LEDs actually do not stay on all the time. They go off after 8 seconds. We hope you continue to enjoy the Apollo!

I just purchased the Apollo lantern. It seems pretty nice so far, but I'm not a fan of the charge indicator LEDs - why do they need to be on all the time? It seems weird enough that they are blocked by the outer shell when the lantern is opened/extended, but why waste power having them constantly lit?
