Black Diamond's 3rd annual fundraising party for the Salt Lake Climbers Alliance raises $13,000!

slcaJune 14th saw Black Diamond Equipment’s 3rd annual fundraiser party for the Salt Lake Climbers Alliance enjoy its best night ever. Good times. Good people. Oh, and a record $13,000 raised for the SLCA. $13,000! This year more than 350 people attended the parking-lot party at BD headquarters—always great to see our local climbing community come out in such strong support of the SLCA and its efforts. The Salt Lake Climbers’ Alliance helps to address access issues, replace hardware and maintain trails for climbing areas throughout the entire state of Utah. From installing restrooms in Joe’s Valley to replacing bolts in Big Cottonwood Canyon, the SLCA is our local crag steward. Thanks to everyone who attended the party—your support was huge!

Besides the copious quantities of beer, food and music that kept the party rolling, there was a massive raffle and silent auction with equipment from all the major gear companies, and a “Golden Ticket” super raffle with the winner, Elizabeth Hall, scoring a full of set of BD C3s and Camalots. Score! A trio of BD athletes, Cedar Wright, Josh Wharton and Mike Libecki, were also on hand for poster signings. slca

We would like to thank all the companies who donated product for the silent auction and raffle. A special thanks also go out to Red Rock Brewery, the Smokin’ Blues Band, Petzl, Liberty Mountain, Momentum Climbing Gym, The Front Climbing Club, Rockcreation, and all the volunteers who helped make this event possible.

See you again at next year’s party, and hopefully much sooner than that out at the crags!
