Black Diamond CEO Peter Metcalf was recently quoted in an Elevation Outdoors Magazine article on natural gas development in the American West and its threats to the outdoor industry and our wild places. “A society needs places to escape,” says Metcalf. “We in the United States don’t have a Sistine Chapel or pyramids. But we do have Yellowstone and Arches National Park and Canyonlands. Can’t we preserve some places?”

Small considerations like this will keep us totally dependent on other's oil and gas... but we don't seem to mind using them. Every piece of BD gear uses someones resources.
