Riccardo Cassin passes away at 100

Riccardo Cassin passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the age of 100. Cassin was one of the greatest alpinists of his generation and one of the most influential and important climbers in the history of alpinism, having established numerous testpieces throughout Europe and the rest of the world, including the famed Cassin Ridge on Mount McKinley in 1961. He was a truly legendary climber and his passing marks a significant loss for alpinists, mountaineers and climbers around the world.
