In 1972 Chouinard Equipment published a catalog that redefined the sport of climbing—a printed piece that changed the way climbers approached their sport with the gear that Chouinard created. Today, July 8, 2009, Black Diamond Equipment has launched a new website that will redefine the sports of climbing and freeride skiing... again, in tandem with the gear that our tenacious company produces.
Below you will find a handful of the site's killer new features that demonstrate our commitment and continued contribution to the communities of climbing, freeride skiing and alpinism.

CARABINERS/QUICKDRAWS
Each category of gear we make has its own level of complexity. Technologies, Features, Colors, Weights don't always make finding the gear you need so easy. We designed the category pages to help you find what you're looking for as quickly as possible. Some of our more complex categories feature information-rich tech modules for detailed descriptions of product technologies. Each category page has filters above the product listing. GEAR

Thanks for the feedback, John. The new website is a big change in layout and content, so we understand that at times you may feel a little unsure as to where to find what you're looking for. Finding product is actually quite simple: just click on the words Climb, Ski or Mountain and you'll see everything we make. Alternatively you can type in any relevant word (e.g., Camalots, tents, Megawatt or gloves) in the search box at the top of the page. Thanks again and we hope you continue to enjoy the site.

Interesting web site ...but it's not obvious how to find product information from the front page. In fact, it seems to be hidden. Doesn't Black Diamond want to sell stuff anymore? Maybe Yvon's innovation has devolved into the Facebook of climbing.
