BD sales rep Roger Strong makes second ascent of The Shadow in the Canadian Rockies
Black Diamond sales rep Roger Strong is crazy for climbing—ice, rock, choss, whatever, Roger is game for it and always sends. So it wasn't surprising to get the following email and photos from him, noting that he'd rallied up to the Canadian Rockies for a quick alpine mission and pulled off the second ascent of The Shadow with Rob Owens. Check out the photos below...

Hey BD!
Rob Owens and I nabbed the 2nd ascent of The Shadow on the north face of Mt. Patterson (just left of the fearsome Riptide). Amazing route. The four crux pitches took an hour-plus apiece to lead free…incredibly engaging climbing.
Here’s Rob’s trip report;

Jon Walsh and Caroline George opened this route five years ago. Talking to them and comparing pictures, they felt that we had a lot leaner ice conditions, hence making the mixed climbing more full on. We gave it a pretty sustained M7R, WI 6+.
Still high when I think of climbing that rig…
