BD athlete Eva Walkner finishes 2nd and Reine Barkered 9th at first stop of Freeride World Tour in Chamonix, France

fwtBlack Diamond athletes Eva Walkner took second place at the first stop of the Freeride World Tour in Chamonix, France. Fellow BD rider Reine Barkered (who finished 2009 ranked 2nd overall on the FWT) managed a respectable 9th place against some of the world's top freeride skiers. Congratulations to Eva and Reine and best wishes for continued good results as they continue competing in the Freeride World Tour. Below is an email from Reine as well as a POV video of his run.

Re: FWT line in Cham

Hello from Chamonix!

The contest was fun, but the conditions were challenging. There was snow fresh snow on top of a sun-crust, so all the new snow was sliding off and leaving a pretty firm base.  It took me a while to pick a line, but in the end, I finally chose a solid line and was stoked on my decision. I skied it fluidly, stomped a few clean airs, but didn’t quite get the scores I’d have hoped for. Oh well, I landed in the top 10 and got props from the other riders, so for me it was all good! The next comp is this week, so I will go for it again and let you know how it goes.

See ya, Reine
