Drop Zone Crash Pad is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Everything I Want in a Pad, Except a Sternum Strap This pad is rugged and well constructed. The padding seems more than adequate and The rubbery material on the ground-side helps keeps it from sliding around much and prevents premature wear and tear. The taco-style fold is a bit difficult to fold initially but is already getting easier (or I'm getting used to it.) The stretch mesh flap with a zippered pocket makes stashing and carrying essentials easy and secure. My only beef with this pad is it doesn't have a sternum strap on the shoulder straps. I tend to load my pads with plenty of weight and a sternum strap would help with carrying comfort. With the addition of a sternum this would be a five star product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Pad All Around Pad. Taco Style is Good and Bad Pros: Its function as a durable protective landing surface has been excellent so far. Ive taken a few falls onto it from various heights and have been left unscathed. It also continues to hold up well after a few abusive trips to the desert and the redwoods. Its fairly light for packing in and works well as an all around pad. Its taco style lets you pack in everything you need, from shoes and chalk to guide books and your lunch. Your sandwich will fit without being squished! Cons: Its a great all around pad, but certainly needs to be doubled up with other support when you start tackling taller problems. The taco style, while great for allowing space for gear, can make it difficult to pack and a little awkward when packing in. It doesn't feel like it sits squarely on your shoulders. It also feels like a fight to fold it up for packing in and out. Overall I would suggest this pad for those looking for a great all around crash pad, but while the taco style is often a great feature it can sometimes also be a detractor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stiff and seamless. I'm pretty psyched on this new version. I've been using BD pads for years now. and every new incarnation brings something more to the table. As bouldering gets higher and landings get worse as we venture into the talus fields of higher ranges, we're needing more from a pad than before. I'm digging this one for its stiffness: it'll protect falls onto sharp talus, no flimsy feeling. It's also good for a stacker onto a big nest of pads: a sort of bullseye when coming in from on high.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works! Exactly what I expected when I made the purchase. I thought that the black diagonal line in the middle of the product image meant that I was buying a hinged pad...this is in fact a taco. That's on me, I didn't read the description well enough, but it folds and works perfectly fine. I was just surprised; but like all of my other gear, BD put out a good product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from this pad has got you, so you can get after it I've been loving this pad because it's got solid, reinforced stitching that I don't have to worry about popping open. There's plenty of space inside the fold for pairs of shoes and so on, and the handy zipper pocket is killer for holding snacks or guidebooks at the ready. Lightweight but heavy duty, the drop zone will be a steadfast companion for my bouldering endeavors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this bouldering pad. This bouldering pad is amazing. It is very durable. It folds up great with strong buckles and it lays nice and flat to prevent rolled ankles. The padding is thick enough to support a decent fall off the rock. I am thinking about buying another one to only make me feel more supported when high off the deck. Get one yourself!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light, sturdy pad I've had this pad for a few years and use it often in conjunction with a beefier pad, since it isn't suitable for taller problems all by itself. That said, this pad is light, durable, and carries better than other taco-style pads I've used. Great for mid-size problems, long hikes, or backing up another pad. Solidly built.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bouldering Pad The Drop Zone Crash Pad is a great addition to my climbing equipment. The taco style allows me to fold my other climbing gear (shoes, backpack, etc) and keep my hands free during approaches. It's the perfect size and has great foam to fall on.
