Fusion Comfort Construction

Fusion Comfort Construction™

Intent on building a harness that would move with the body it protects, we designed a triple-weave webbing on the interior of the harness’s waistbelt that provides movement-focused technology while maintaining superior breathability, durability and strength. Also featured on the harness’s leg loops, this technology offers excellent load sharing, relieving pressure from sensitive points of contact.

Specialty Harness Comparision

Technician Harness is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect great features, great price, super comfortable, very light. Fits true to size, I'm a 32" and bought a large because I wanted this mostly for ice climbing. A medium probably for have been fine but the large fits ok. Only feedback is that I find the gear loops are a bit too low profile, especially for the winter when you've got lots of layers. If you are wearing your belay jacket and racking draws and screws its a bit hard to see the gear loops and easy to clip a bit of coat in with the draw.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great specialized harness I bought this harness for ice climbing but will likely be using it on alpine climbs and for low altitude mountaineering due to its light weight and extra padding over my coulior harness. I agree the gear loops could be bigger, but I have yet to use the huge rear loop, so I think the capacity for longer climbs is there. Great location for ice clippers. I wish the leg loops adjusted a bit tighter, but then again, my thigh diameter is the envy of most women. Also wish the haul loop was rated for a belay anchor as I like clipping in to the rear rather than to the front tie ins.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good overall I bought this harness as a good go between a gym/technical harness for winter mountaineering. I am a bigger guy and bought what I thought was the appropriate size for my waist. The waist was way too big for me, but the leg straps fit snug. (I've been told I have tree trunk legs). This is my first civilian harness and compared to the military issued stuff I have had, the equipment loops and other features are great! I guess the bottom line is larger folks make sure you really measure your waist and size down. Just my opinion.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Gear Loops (on a trad harness!) I bought this harness with the hopes of using it to climb cracks and ice and to replace the my old Aspect harness. The gear loops are smaller and sit closer to the harness than the old Aspect. I struggle to fit all the trad gear I need on the loops and it is very hard to clip gear into the low profile gear loops while wearing gloves. It was night and day when switching between these models. The extra loop in the back could in theory make up some space but it hangs so low that it gets mixed up in the bottom of my jackets. The aspect had a higher fifth loop that worked well. The new design features seem to make this harness worse for its intended purpose than previous models. I also wish they kept the old sewn haul loop rather than the flimsy unrated loop they put on this harness. I used the harness for a month of trad and ice and I can't stand it any more. This might end up being my gym harness now.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Almost but not quite A great harness expect for the infuriating buckle design on the waist. It is amazingly difficult to loosen. How the waist buckle design got passed QC is beyond me. AMGA guide for 10 years

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile and comfortable I picked this up about a month ago. I have been able to use it for ice, mixed routes, the gym, and skimo. Very functional and comfortable when hanging tools, stowing gear, or taking a fall. I can hardly tell it is there. I cannot attest to its durability as I haven’t had it long enough to know. However, I have not had any issues with it sliding down ice and snow or rubbing up against rock surfaces. In terms of sizing; I picked up a XL. I have a 35” waist and am typically wearing the harness over insulation of some sort. It seems to be right on the money. Without insulation it is cinched up all the way. With insulation I have room to adjust if I am standing at the belay with my heavy belay jacket on.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Room for improvement The harness gets the job done but has a bit of room for improvement. My biggest concern is that the gear loops are quite small. For a standard day of ice climbing with screws, quickdraws, anchor material and maybe a very very light rock rack the harness does fine. Any more than that and the gear loops would become quite crowded. There is quite a bit of space between the rear 2 gear loops and the 5th loop in the back. It's a shame that the front gear loops weren't made larger (like the chaos harness) to fill that extra space and be able to accommodate a larger rock rack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sleek profile After only a few timesI I felt the sleek design difference. Light weight and comfortable, something I can wear all day and forget I have it on. As with all Black Diamond products the quality of this harness is impeccable. I'm looking forward to wearing this harness for the up coming ice climbing season with the adjustable leg loops it should be a no brainier !
