Speed 50 Pack is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light and nimble Gets your gear there without any hassles. light enough yet it can still handle the loads of a full rack, rope etc. It's nimble enough to carry up the cliff if you're not coming back to your starting point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best pack I've ever owned! This pack is fantastic. It's light, super comfortable, tough, versatile, roomy and full featured. I have worn this pack fully loaded for 3 hours of hiking on an approach to a climb and not needed to stop for a break, get tired or sore. Normally I would need to stop after about an hour to take a break and rest but this thing is so comfy I can keep going. I've used many packs - Deuter, Gregory, Osprey, etc. and nothing touches this pack. I recently used it on a four day trip into the Mount Whitney area and carried the following: sleeping bag, pad, puffy jacket, fleece jacket, other layers, stove, fuel, four days of food, double rack, rope, harness, helmet, foam pad, rock shoes and some small miscellaneous items. I know.........that is just crazy. How did it all fit in a 48 liter pack?! And it was still comfy to carry. It also has a lot of great features yet it still retains its simplicity. The rope strap is great. The brain is huge. It's got a hydration sleeve, excellent ice tool and crampon attachments. It is easily and fully stripable if you want to use it as a summit pack which I would in a second. No need to bring an extra bullet pack for those alpine climbs. Buy this pack and you will not be disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great Pack - Poor After Sales Support I bought this pack a few months ago but on its second outing the pull cord detached from the pack. Appreciate that these things happen and returned the pack through the seller for repair. I understand that the pack was returned to Black Diamond and then Black Diamond Europe with no updates on progress. Reluctantly I eventually requested and received a full refund. Such a shame as potentially a great pack let down by quality and after sales care. Considering giving the pack another try as specification fits bill so to speak and will give it some thought.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable! I bought this pack about a year and a half ago and have put it through the wringer. I've worn out a few packs over the last six years (some in as little as a couple months, some in a year), and I've used this harder than most of those. It has a few small cuts in the fabric, but I easily patched them. The most worn out part is the pack panel where it rubs my lower back while hiking, but it still works fine. The drawcord cordlock on the primary collar (not the extension) wore through and broke a while ago, but it doesn't really affect the function of the pack; I just cinch the extension collar and then clip and tighten the top strap to keep the top of the pack tidy. I've carried this pack on thousands of feet of granite, sandstone, ice, and snow climbing and it's been a champ. With the collar and brain it expands to haul a heavy load, and then cinches down nicely to carry on route. The foam back panel came in handy during an unplanned bivvy. Most of the time I carry it without brain, frame panel, or hipbelt pads; so it's very light and simple and still carries fine. My only real suggestion is it would be nice to have a metal hook buckle on the top cinch strap. Sometimes when cinching down a rope or compressing the overflow collar, the plastic buckle gives way, so I can't cinch it tight enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Alpine I have a lot of packs. I really like this pack due to the efficient design, gear loops, tool buckles and removable top pouch. I think is has the right amount of features for this purpose. I've carried 50lbs with it and it was still acceptably comfortable and stable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ascent Series Packs I`m literally in love with the Speed packs I use the Speed 50 to go sleep on top of '' Mont Ham '' and '' Mont des Morios '' all year long. The perfect pack to live that kind of experiences. Simplicity, Confort and efficiency A Gold Class piece of kit
