Stone 45 is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of both worlds I've had this pack for a little under a year now and have been very satisfied. It fits like an Alpine pack but has the duffel zipper to provide easy access at the same time. Used it for a season of single pitch guiding this summer where I was carrying a lot of gear and it always held up. Great choice!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely recommended I have tested this pack twice in the mountain since buying it. So far, there is nothing to complain about, the side zip is an excellent feature, seems to be quite sturdy. Cannot wait to test it out during the winter

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work Horse This is a fantastic "large rack" pack. I live in Moab and climb in the Creek full time. I carry a triple rack, 80m cord, dog waters, my own water, and often a drill and kit. A big and heavy load for sure. The pack carries really comfortable! I am 5'11', I use the M/L and its perfect. I also am on my third Creek 50 pack and since I have gotten the Stone 45, the Creek 50 often sits in the Garage. A few things I really like about the pack besides its comfort: When its loaded, and I am hiking up hill and look up at the cliff, my head is not constricted from the top of the pack. Another thing is that you can buy it in a "nickel" color. I never understood why the Creek 50 only comes in black? It is the desert and is hot as (you know) out there. Thank you BD for this awesome pack. Don't change a thing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect After suffering through seasons at the New River Gorge and various other side trips out West with various hiking packs I finally picked up the Stone 45. It is EVERYTHING I need in a crag pack. There's a convenient slot for a water system, a front zipper that lets you go full yard sale mode in seconds, and various straps all over for hanging shoes, packing a rope up top, or whatever else you need to quickly attach. There are wonderful handles on the front and back at the top of the pack so you can pick it up easily when fully loaded. One of the best features I was not aware of before receiving the bag is the BRIGHT blue interior! I was worried selecting a black bag would mean resigning myself to a "black hole" but I can find everything easily. I am only 5' 2" with a short torso so finding a crag pack that's comfortable and fits me well on ALL manner of approaches is a huge challenge. This bag is great and sits on my hips right where it should. The hip straps are conveniently designed so that the excess strap is not flapping in the wind either. The whole design is just totally sleek and easy to move with. The back is padded so that even on a brutal uphill hike at the Creek I was never uncomfortable. The top of the bag loads and ties down nicely so that on a decent into The Gorge via ladder or steep trail I don't feel top heavy or have the tendency to pitch forward. It fits easily in an overhead bin on a plane even when fully loaded and Southwest won't give you grief for not checking it. 10/10 and I couldn't be happier....unless you can figure out how to include a feature that helps me send with greater frequency.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack Bought this pack for guiding outside at the crag and love it. I can fit a big first aid kit, rope, snacks, harness, shoes, big water bottle and anchoring gear. My only wish is to have one or two outside pockets to help with organization, but the brain has three pockets to it and fits everything instead. The pack feels durable and the buckles are pretty much reinforced so they won’t break easily. I can strap my rope to the top without issue and the back panels is very comfortable to support the weight well

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really comfortable, easy access to 2 pockets in top Would be 5 stars except for two things: 1) The "velcro" used to keep the top flap-and-2-pockets in place is a serious piece of sh-t. The top doesn't come off (due to 2 adjustable straps that hold it on) it just detaches from the velcro and flops down whenever you move it back to get at stuff in the main compartment. Anoying. This happens no matter how little weight you have in the top compartments. Almost like...why bother with the "velcro" at all! [NOTE: The "velcro" is MUCH better in earlier versions of this pack ". ] and ...2) Somewhere since the earlier versions of the pack it has lost the two ice-axe loops at the bottom; so it's only a "rock" pack, not an "ice climbing and mountaineering" pack. All that being said, it's exactly what it claims to be...a GREAT "gear to the crag" pack. REALLY comfortable.
