Description

Built for unparalleled comfort during all day cragging and gym sessions, the Momentum Lace is a shoe that combines innovative technology with a classic, flat-last design. The result is an entry-level shoe that excels in performance. With an upper fabric that consists entirely of our Engineered Knit Technology, the Momentum Lace provides stretch where you need it, support where it matters and all around exceptional breathability. We’ve also added a micro-fiber liner to the front of the shoe to minimize stretch and maximize comfort. The Momentum’s durable rubber is unique in that it’s molded—inspired by the way we forge our carabiners—versus cut from one sheet of rubber. This is our engineered solution to optimize our shoe’s rubber and rands for durability and comfort. Designed for all-day comfort on moderate routes, boulders or gym sessions, the Momentum features a soft-flex midsole for sensitivity and lace-up adjustability, making it the perfect entry level climbing shoe.

  • Neutral, flat last for vertical climbing and all-day comfort
  • Engineered Knit Technology upper provides exceptional breathability and comfort
  • 4.3mm rubber is built for durability and molded for optimal consistency and performance

Climb Shoe Comparision

Momentum Lace Climbing Shoes - Men's is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5/5. Would recommend. See title. Point is made up there. Don't know why I need so many characters in the review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid shoe and excellent value I have been a die hard La Sportiva TC Pro since 2010, with no other shoe touching my foot until now. The Momentum Lace is an amazingly comfortable, easy break in shoe, with great sticky rubber, edging ability and lightweight, breathable design. Whether at the Creek, Zion, Eldo; whether sporting it up, or sending long splitters, I am a convert.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from versatile and comfortable I purchased this shoe because it was cheap so I could have something to climb in while my TC Pros were resoled and I ended up loving them. The Momentums rubber strikes a great balance of sticky/durable. I sized up one half size from street shoe and find that works well for comfort and good performance. I really like the construction of the shoe, the knit material breathes better than leather. I do a lot of crack climbing and the main wear I am experiencing is my laces getting pretty fuzzy. My climbing style it trad, single and multi pitch, lots of granite, I do not boulder of climb sport. I also have done some gym climbing in them and they work well for that. I will seriously be considering the Aspect when my TC Pros die.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Gym and Teaching shoe Got these shoes for the gym so I’m not wrecking my 200$ crag shoes inside. I also intend to use them while teaching since they are very comfortable and seem like I would be able to spend all day in them while showing newer climbers how to climb outside. First off, I’m not sure what people are talking about in the sizing. I wear a size 10 street shoe, sometimes 10.5. I got my climbing shoes in a 9.5. My TC Pros are 9.5 and so are my Taratulace. I’m guessing it’s newer climbers not accustomed to how climbing shoes fit. These fit perfect and similar to the same size in other brands I own. I climbed for 5 hours at the gym, my first day in these shoes and have nothing to complain about. They are performing as expected and I climbed up to 5.12 with no foot problems. They edged and smeared as well as many much more expensive shoes I’ve had. Can wait to play with them outside this weekend as I take a class of youngsters out for their first day on some real rock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Solid Shoes These shoes arrived, and the day they got here I used them. I took them off after two solid hours of climbing and only had a blister on my left foot. They are a great choice for intermediate climbers who spend most of their time indoors. Great job Black Diamond!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Beginner Shoe This pair was my first pair of climbing shoes. First off they are a great price, and are quite a comfy shoe as well. The lace up is sooo nice to have to get a slightly custom fit. The shoes perform super well indoors and outdoors as well. Great shoes for learning or even just a bouldering shoe .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable, Affordable, and Good Performance I picked up a pair of these shoes for their value and because I wanted to try out a lace up shoe. I really like the ability to fine tune almost the full length of the shoe, and lacing it with "ankle locks" at the top allows this shoe to climb into upper 5.10 grades outside with ease. Above that, the softness of the sole and the semi-blunt toe kind of hold the shoe back... or maybe I'm just making excuses. I've run these shoes up ~50 routes so far this year, the rubber is holding up well, and the knit portion of the shoe has done well but does have a little wear showing at my big toe. Like others have said, these run tight. Seems like all BD shoes do, something they probably ought to own and stick to at this point rather than surprise consumers next season or later. I wear a size 9 street shoe most of the time, and have an average width foot. I was wearing five ten Anasazi VCS shoes in a size 9 prior, but when buying these shoes I went with the 9.5. Adjusting the laces makes a big difference in how the shoes fit. Try them on with the laces loosened up quite a bit and go from there. The knit does stretch over time slightly. Overall, I am very happy with these shoes. However, I'm hoping BD makes a lace up mid-aggressive shoe in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super comfortable, but size up Excellent fitting shoe! Very breathable and super comfortable for all day wear. I normally wear a 10/10.5 street shoe, depending on brand. I sized up to 11 and my feet fit perfectly, snug but not too tight. This is hands down the perfect gym shoe, don't hesitate - buy it now.
