BD Athlete Noah Howell is known for his steep skiing prowess. However, when the snow melts from the high peaks in the Wasatch Range, Howell doesn’t slow down. Applying the same speed that he harnesses on his gnarly descents, Howell focuses his attention on cruising up for a change. For the past several years, he’s been vying for the coveted fastest known time on the ultimate Wasatch testpiece—the South Ridge of Superior. In this video, Howell shows off this spectacular climb in all its glory and shares his genuine love for the iconic mountain.

The late great Alex Lowe ran it in 48 minutes. Or so legend has it. But since those days of yore, when speed demons like Lowe and Andrew McLean hucked lung-busting laps on the iconic South Ridge of Mount Superior, few have broken the elusive hour barrier. However, one of those few happens to be BD Athlete Noah Howell. A steep skier at heart, Howell stays fit in the summer months by pushing himself on the South Ridge. He’s still vying for that elusive FKT, but through the process he’s come to know the mountain intimately, while simultaneously developing a deep appreciation for this classic summer scramble.
