DescriptionOur go-to headlamp for everything from midweek dawn patrols to all-night rappelling sessions, the Black Diamond Spot now features an incredible 300 lumens of adjustable light with a fully waterproof construction. In addition to its reliable, precise and powerful beam for spotting anchors or trail cairns, the Spot’s redesigned lighting profile offers improved peripheral lighting for close-range activities like cooking, reading or sorting gear, while simultaneously increasing the overall brightness. The Spot also features our Brightness Memory, which allows you to turn the light on and off at a chosen brightness without reverting back to full power. Seven different lighting modes, including red night vision, allow for fully custom lighting in any situation, and our PowerTap Technology makes for instant brightness adjustments.
- One QuadPower LED and one DoublePower white LED emit 300 lumens
- Red SinglePower LED for night vision has dimming and strobe settings and activates without cycling through white mode
- PowerTap™ Technology allows instant transitioning between full and dimmed power
- Sleek, low-profile design uses three AAA batteries
- Brightness Memory allows you to turn the light on and off at a chosen brightness without reverting back to full power
- Settings include full strength in proximity and distance modes, dimming, strobe, red night-vision and lock mode
- IPX8: Waterproof-Tested to operate up to 1.1 meters underwater for 30 minutes. If submerged, water may enter the battery compartment and it will still operate, and it should be dried out completely afterwards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jason from Solid and depndable I use this light for a backup light underground for work and personal trips. I spend a huge amount of time underground in harsh conditions and have used this light in 90 degree 100% humidity conditions in lava tubes in the Pacific to freezing cold mines in the San Juans of CO to hot, dry and dusty mines in Death Valley, CA. They work dependably and with a range of light settings and a red light, are perfectly suited for a whole range of applications. I've also used the Spot for multiday backpacks, kayak trips, and as a primary light underground. It works and works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jay N from An excellent upgrade from the 2016 version. I have owned the 2016 Spot and now the 2017 version; looks and weighs exactly the same. Huge difference is it went from 200 to 300 Lumens, and also have the memory function, where it doesnt revert to full power. You might love it or hate it. Either way, I'm keeping both models. Thank you Black Diamond!!!,

Rated 3 out of 5 by jackie27 from frustrating Design, weight, and wearability are great but the usability is lacking. Bought this light for work and quickly found two frustrating problems, the red light is weak unless whatever you are using it for is right in front of your face, and the memory. Their really needs to be a dedicated white light button and red light button, when cycling back and forth between the two you have to readjust the light intensity every time. However, once adjusted i did find the power tap to be very useful and worked flawlessly for me. My favorite feature would be having the ability to lock the device while in a bag or pocket. I really wanted to like this product but may have to look elsewhere.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Fonzeman from Nice light features, but can't get wet It's useless when getting wet....I don't know how they can claim IPX8 waterproofing but I had in the rain and briefly in a outdoor pool. Battery compartment door has no seal so water finds its way freely and caused all sorts of problems. Bought this lamp for canyoning at Fora-corda (they offered a few types for canyoning, of which this was one) but I'm happy I never ended up in a cave(pool) where I would have needed it. Light bundle functionality is great, build quality not up to standard (initially submitted this review at the COSMO model by mistake, I have the Spot 200)

Rated 1 out of 5 by annapa from Frustrating controls & headband Used this headlamp over a 4-day camping trip. Kept accidentally triggering 'power tap' button but struggled to trigger it intentionally. There's only one other button, which controls all the light settings through different combinations of presses and press lengths. After reading them all in the instructions I couldn't remember any except the lock function and was only able to work out the two basic settings. After a couple days the headband would loosen every time I took the headlamp off. Couple of times while tightening the band, it slipped through the inexplicably slotted buckle and was a real hassle to re-insert. On the upside, near-field light has a great wide angle and not too bright, so was perfect for pottering about the campsite at night without disturbing other campers. Long-distance light is very bright and has a very long and focused beam - great for looking at things in the distance, albeit optics are not ideal with big yellow hotspot in the middle of a less bright white beam.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Rock climber sailor from Okay light Pretty bright and has the red light I need. But some issues: Power trap is a gimmick and works only fitfully if at all and will suddenly cut in at the worst time. Only the light itself is waterproof not the battery compartment so as soon as it gets wet the batteries corrode... Pretty stupid design flaw. Cycling between small led, large led, and red LED is entirely unintuitive and after 6 months of owning this in still button mashing like a gaming newb In the hope that I will randomly achieve the desired effect. Otherwise it's pretty good I guess.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Marcel from nice headlamp, but yellow spot in spotlight beam I bought the spot headlamp some weeks ago as a replacement for my old cosmo headlamp. I like the functionality and the controls of the lamp, as also the power of the lightbeam. But what I don't like is the yellow spot in the center of the spotlight beam. For lighting something in the distance this is not a problem, but when using the spotlight beam at close distance at low power this yellow spot is annoying. I read black diamonds response concerning this issue reported by another reviewer, explaining the degrees Kelvin. But I don't agree with it, because I find the yellow spot annoying, and I own an older cosmo and a brand new ion, and neither of these two show a yellow spot like the spot headlamp does. I would have rated this headlight 5 stars without the yellow spot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by moody76 from So Dependable! I use my headlamp for trail running at night several times a week. I have the Spot model from several years ago that has lasted through constant use in all kinds of weather, including full submersion in water during trail races. Just recently purchased this version to replace my older model. Thanks for making a great product that has seen me through so many miles on the trail, including all night during the Western States 100 Endurance Run!
