How-to Video: Fitting Black Diamond Gloves and Mitts

Soloist Gloves is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really, really WARM! Fantastic gloves!! I purchased both these and the Soloist finger-gloves. Each are fantastic so far. I have frost bitten 3 of my fingers mountaineering, and finding gloves that are warm enough has been a real problem. These are the warmest gloves I’ve ever put on. They are comfortable, waterproof, and have really great dexterity. The leather across the palm, and doubled in the thumb area, are real assets. They grip ice ax, trekking / skiing poles well. I strongly recommend these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding gloves I’ve had these gloves for 2 weeks now. I use these gloves in a walk-in freezer and I’m amazed how well they keep my hands warm. I would recommend these gloves to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First Test Used these on a new year’s attempt of Eldorado peak in the North Cascades. They were way to warm for the 20 F bushwhack and steep snow wallowing on the approach, I removed the liners and used just the shell to protect hands from snow and devil’s club and while grabbing slide alder and they help up well. They worked great with liners in at camp and on the ski out next morning. They were still too warm actually and the liners got damp from sweat, but dried quickly when I took the shell off during a snack break. Can’t wait to use them in colder conditions they we designed for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm gloves I just used these gloves for the first time skiing this season. They felt warm and comfortable. The were dexterous enough to go ice climbing which is why I bought them. These were purchased to replace another B/D model which was discontinued. I was very pleased with that model and was disappointed when they were not available. However they served me well over many years of ice climbing and skiing. These soloist gloves appear to be filling that spot. Even the wrist adjustment seems to be helping keep my hands stay warm.. I was a bit apprehensive about those wrist tabs at first. After using them I now fully understand their function. The removable liner is a big plus for me as the gloves dry much quicker when the liner is removed. The soloist glove has all the features that I look for in a glove that I plan to have for a long time. The sizing is true to the size. Totally pleased with these gloves ! Pete

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good gloves but struggled in the cold I bought the medium size based on the sizing chart provided and, while this was correct for finger length, the fit around the fingers was pretty tight. Not uncomfortable but not good in very cold weather where there should be more space between fingers and glove for insulation. In a recent trip up Mt Elbrus, my fingers became very cold, so much so that I had to shift the glove so that my fingers were in the palm section of the glove. And this was only around -7 degrees C - well within the specified temperature range of the gloves. So that was a bit disappointing. I think that the large size would have been too big for my hands but possibly warmer on the fingers? Other than that, they seem like really good gloves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good, versatile Won't have a chance to test these out until winter as I bought these in June in the New England area. Like them so far, well built and good features. They are a little snug but should be fine with not too much wearing in - so they actually feel good and right just as they are for my size hands (got the large). Will try to update this review after it gets cold. Mostly be using them for common tasks during New England winters. Not so much for back country or off roading - but still could use good warm sturdy gloves, does get cold even so.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Toasty Always looking for gloves that will keep my fingers warm during general activities - walking the dog, driving, etc. Cold fingers is a big problem for me. While I haven’t gotten these down to their rated temp, they’ve done their job into the 20s. One bit of caution...if you’ve got chunky fingers, these these might not work for you. The fingers run a bit narrow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I wish more gloves were like this I got these gloves because they are warm, waterproof, and had a removable liner. I have used them for everything from walks around the neighborhood to alpine climbing and they excel in both. They are warm without losing dexterity, a good all around glove for when it gets cold.
