Forge Down Hoody is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent winter jacket It’s always been a struggle finding a winter jacket that has both the correct fit and the ability to provide sufficient warmth - this meets both of those. I’m 6’4” and 185 lbs, and the large fit me perfectly (body and sleeve length). I have long arms and, thanks to the gusseted arms and ample sleeve length, I can extend my arms out without exposing my wrists. I’m able to wear this with nothing but a t-shirt on underneath down to 20F. Anything colder and I wear the Black Diamond CoEfficient Jacket (also fits perfectly for my stature) as a mid layer and it keeps me toasty down into the single digits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great down jacket. Highly recommend! I'm 6'2" with long arms. Most jackets leave my wrists cool, but the XL is a great fit. Layered great over my Compound Hoody, and under my Liquid Point Shell. BD did a great job making sure all work layers congruently. Multiple pockets along with the internal stash holes are great. Lightweight and packs well. Highly recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great buy Great jacket- very warm, simple, tough outer material but very soft inside. I like the deep chest pocket. The sleeves are nice and long so they don't pull up when you raise you arms. Only concern is a common issue with BD gear and it is a totally understandable tradeoff- To make it climb well, the arm pits are high. I am 6', 175lbs and the medium fits awesome except in the pits, a bit uncomfortable for anything but climbing, also not much room for anything but a long sleeve underneath. I fear the large will be baggier than I want though. If you have broad shoulders I may consider sizing up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Value Down Jacket on the Market Very warm jacket. Perfect standalone piece from high 20s up to mid 50s. I wish BD made a vest based on this design. At 5’8” tall and roughly 165lbs a size medium fit perfectly through the shoulders and chest.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty solid jacket The jacket it great all around except for how high and tight the armpits ride. If it was about an inch larger on the inseam I’d say the jacket is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is it Spent weeks finding the right jacket, and this is it. Perfect both as a stand-alone, or as an insulation jacket under a BD shell. Do a lot a lot of trekking, biking and skiing in the Norwegian and Spanish mountains during the summer, fall and winter seasons, and the forge down hoody is a perfect partner. I’m 6.2, and 220ish, and size XL fits as tailored.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super solid mid weight puffy This puffy has all the features a climber or ski mountaineer needs. Hand warmer pockets, drop in internal, and the ever important chest pocket that doubles as a clippable stuff sack. I've owned Patagonia and Rab versions and this BD fits the best by comparison. I'm 5'11"/165# with a plus 6" ape index. My main problem is usually baggy torsos when I size (generally go with size large) to fit my arm length, can't stand exposed wrists. I went with large and the sleeves are great and the body is somewhat trim. My only complaint is the volume of the upper sleeve is a little snug. When worn for action with a long sleeve underneath it's great and goes unnoticed. I can fit a baselayer and thinner midlayer or shell. Short sleeves tend too bunch up in the armpit, that's really the only issue I've had. As a technical piece of outerwear I'd give it 5 stars. My issue was fit which will vary for others.
