Alpenglow Hoody is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight breathable layer I bought this a month ago and so far have been very happy. I've used it as it was designed for lightweight sun protection. It does well. Also because it breaths so well I've started using it as a mid layer during high output activities and been very happy with its performance. As far as fit goes I find it is roomy enough to layer undernearth but still wears tight enough to not get in the way when worn under a pack or harness. Not the most versitale piece of clothing but one that works well in specific settings. Also it packs small so it's ended up in my SAR pack quite a bit lately to serve as a synthetic mid layer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Layer, One Recommendation I love this layer. It's highly breathable, but offers sun and wind protection. I have just one recommendation: a light drawcord for the hood. I wore the hoody today on a breezy Colorado afternoon and the hood kept blowing off. The drawcord would keep the hood in place. I'm looking forward to putting this piece to use in the Utah desert next week!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Missed the mark I wanted to like this so bad because I need a sun hoody. The fit in the body and arms was perfect but the hood was a big miss. Should have been more fitted and less baggy around the face. With the hood on, it didn't cover that well at the forehead and was too floppy around the eyes. Vision is pretty restricted on the periphery. Plus the hood doesnt stay up well and falls with movement or wind. Fix the hood (make it similar to NRS sun hoody or patagonia) and the is 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I hate sunscreen and like this hoody There's something so nice about being able to hide from that big, orange sunburn-maker under a thin, comfy hoodie. Solar hoodies have become an essential part of my personal kit, especially for spring skiing, glacier travel, and summer alpine climbing. The fit on the Alpenglow is on the slightly trim side without being tight in the Large that I picked up, which nicely mirrors the light, dry feel of the fabric. Read: it doesn't make me feel hot, even when things get hot. Though BD mentions that the hood is meant to be used under a helmet (which will solve the "I want a drawcord" thoughts that someone else expressed), and it works fine over my climbing helmet (Vector). The fit over a ball cap is excellent as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My go to hot-weather layer A breathable, durable barrier from the blazing sun, this layer was my best friend for a hot week in the desert. It fits great over any top without providing too much excess warmth, but I prefer it all by itself (and boy oh boy, it's like wearing nothing at all). As a nice touch, the loose hood slips easily over a helmet to provide some much needed coverage on those exposed belays! The only improvement I could imagine would be thumb loops for more robust wrist/hand coverage, but I would only use these a fraction of the time and the lack thereof does not detract.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best sunshirt I've tried I've used a variety of sun shirts, mostly by Patagonia, and this is my favorite to date. The fabric is similar to the original Path sun shirt (the one with the loose hood and kangaroo pocket) but a bit lighter, less warm, and more breathable. So far this shirt seems to hold odor less as well. I'm 6' tall, 190 pounds, and the large is a perfect fit - just loose enough but not overly so. As some other reviewers have mentioned, the hood is a little loose which encourages airflow, but it easily blows off in a head wind. I've remedied this by wearing a hat or helmet over the hood in breezy conditions, but a light drawcord would solve the problem. The upside is the hood is large enough to fit over a helmet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from down size Nice hoody. Consistent with other products on the market, although the curry color is much darker in person, almost khaki colored, and the sizing is way off. I'm 5'8 160 and the medium is still too big even when worn over a heavy sweater. Absolutely not a slim fit as advertised on the website. Debating whether to see if it shrinks after a wash or exchanging it for a small.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic piece but... ...the material frays! Super bummed because this hoodie is amazing. I describe to wild-eyed onlookers ("why are you wearing a sweatshirt?!") like having your own e-z up follow you around while you climb. The billowy composition of the hoodie catches wind very well, to the point where I couldn't see my feet at times while climbing, but never annoying since it is so refreshing. The wispy fabric wicked sweat efficiently and was dry by the hike out. It kept me outside climbing and relatively comfortable for a few hours longer than just a hat and sunglasses would have. Almost most importantly - no sunburn. I find the hood to be quite nice and stays on even when tipping back on a roof. My only complaint is the construction allows for seams to rub against the rock and after two days of climbing the sleeves were frayed and pilled. TLDR: Can't imagine that it will last very long at the rate the fabric is deteriorating but it serves it's purpose extremely well for the time.
