Rated 4 out of 5 by Kyle from Simple and Works Well This pack has been working well for me for overnight spring ski trips. Everything fits nicely (even with my 0 degree bag) and is easy to access, with the help of a side zipper. I found that the top lid needs to be a little bit larger to cover up the entire opening when the bag is full. I often have my puffy at the top of my pack and I found that it is just a little too exposed when the bag is full. Snow falling from trees while bushwacking can find its way into the bag. The hip pocket is perfect and should be included on their dawn patrol bags as well. BD nails the helmet holder and tool holders every time. Really solid bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by brit from A good pack with all the features you need. This pack has a lot of good features from the ski carry system, ax carry, to the hydration sleeve. Took it on a snow climb in Rocky Mountain National Park. My shoulders were sore at the end of the day. Maybe I need to figure out the adjustments to give my shoulders a rest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Driy from A true 40L bag! I am loving this bag. I have taken in it on two 4 day hut trips and had just the right amount of stuff for all of my gear, food, and other liquid necessities. It sits centered on my back and distributes the weight fairly vertically, which helps to keep your center of mass close to your body. I have paired it with the AvaLung Element and it works seamlessly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mike from My favorite spring touring pack ever I've used this pack on dozens of tours. It's my favorite pack ever for spring touring. I usually use an airbag in mid-winter but switch to this pack for long days and spring tours, or any time I need to carry more gear (boot crampons, ski crampons, etc). I like the option of being able to attach an Avalung for a bit more peace of mind in avy terrain. The best attributes of this pack are its light weight and simplicity. It carries well for standard loads. I've done plenty of dry approaches with skis and boots on my back as well and it works fine in this situation. Not the most supportive but it works. But with standard loads I don't have any carry issues. I like the side access zipper. Options for A-frame and diagonal ski carry. The diagonal ski carry is clever and well executed. Ice axe attachment works well and I love the fact that it's got a stowable helmet sleeve. The pocket on the waist belt is also a nice touch for items you want easy access to. Durability is average but I wouldn't expect the burliest pack at this weight. Something has to give for its light weight. That being said I have used this pack 60+ days and it is still working well. I had a few small tears in the side fabric from ski edges (in A frame mode) but easily fixed with some seam grip. If I changed anything I might beef up the side panel fabric just a little bit. Don't stop making this pack BD.

Rated 3 out of 5 by ebecker from Functionality Good, Poor Quality Fabric I bought the bag for alpine ski touring and mountainering just a couple weeks ago. Had my first outing with it this past weekend, and 3 tears in the fabric and other areas showing stress. Hopefully BD works to strengthen fabric in areas of high stress. Functionality of bag was nice. The top overlapping flap could be wider to cover entire opening. Avalanche pouch is better suited on outside of main compartment lid. Fit well, and hauled alot of gear with it. Could use a couple more straps for pockets for equipment attachment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Chad from Great pack I Just spent 6 days with this in the backcountry and I like it. It is nice and light the zipper on the side is nice. I like the roll top and its really easy to use. However, I did notice that the roll top did not close all the way when the bag was packed extra full - that could mean things inside get wet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kirsten from Best ski touring pack I’ve used I bought this pack at the being of February and I’ve been really happy with it since day one. The S/M fits me perfectly which at 5’3” is hard to find. As it doesn’t have sinching straps on the shoulders I just tighten the upper side straps on the pack and that brings the weight in well. The design allows for rapid access into the main body of the pack even with gloves on. I like the idea of the side zipper but I haven’t had to use it yet as the top opens up so nicely. The helmet carrying system is very convenient and the shovel pocket fits a larger size shovel with no problem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Seth from almost there I liked the overall design of the bag however there are two major flaws. The first is that it does not have any load lifters on the shoulder straps. These may not be necessary for a smaller bag but for a bag of 45L I think they are a must. Due to the lack of load lifters it does not carry weight very well. My second critique is that the waist belt is too big, i.e. it can not be tightened enough. I really wanted to like this bag however these issues with how the bag carries weight make it a non starter. I'm sure these issues are not as glaring or important on the smaller sizes.
