Rated 2 out of 5 by Alison from Length markings not at all durable The length markings on this this probe are not at all durable. After two ski tours, in which the probe merely sat in my backpack and was not used, the length markings were already flaking off in multiple places. I knew the markings were not laser-etched and thus would be less durable, but I would have expected they could last at least a reasonable amount of time. As an avalanche educator who uses a probe on a regular basis, the length markings need to be readable, and this probe just does not do the job. It is unfortunate, because otherwise this would be a great probe. It is one of the longest ones on the market but still packs down to a length that fits in most backpacks. I hope BD updates this with laser-etched markings in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MacF from Solid Great probe - light enough to carry everyday, long enough to handle the CO snowpack, markings are really clear for reading depths, and feels super solid.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Brad from Markings not durable Mechanical functions of this probe have been great so far, but within days the numbers started flaking off and now many are not readable. Makes it difficult to use for checking snow depths for pit site selection, measuring depth in a pit wall, knowing how deep your buddy is buried so you know how far downhill to start digging in etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Daniel from Solid These are beefy and reliable. I only use them for SAR, I use a smaller pole for recreation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bradley from For the long haul I haven't had to use this in a rescue situation but have loved having this in my pack for ease of use, low weight probing. The measurements are clear and large with the aluminum being a perfect balance of lightweight effectiveness and strength for probing without excessive amounts of give in the bend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Thomas from Great product Easy to assemble, and great new locking mechanism. I like the length of the probe sections which make this probe easier to store in a variety of packs.
