Rated 5 out of 5 by Julia from I love this jacket This is a must have for any outdoorswoman. It's the perfect layering piece to add to a backcountry ski touring layering system. I wear this over a baselayer with a vest and a shell for touring and it's a great sweat wicking piece. I also love this for multipitch climbing as it adds a little warmth, skin and wind protection and packs down into its pocket to clip to my harness. I have this in two colors because I like it so much. I also like it for skate skiing and biking. All around great piece and a soft fabric so you don't hear the crinkles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by bb45 from perfect lightweight layer I just bought this jacket and have taken it on an early morning hike in Yosemite, climbing at Lover's Leap and on my bike on the way to the gym. It's great to cut the wind and take the chill off in the morning and it's so lightweight. Also great for climbs when it's warm at the base and windy a couple pitches up. My only complaint is that it doesn't have pockets. Reduces weight I suppose and fine for climbing when you don't really need pockets but would be nice for activities that aren't as active. Overall, very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Theresa from Lightweight and versatile The alpine start hoodie is a great addition to your jacket collection. It packs down super small and folds into it's own pocket. It stands up to light rain when showers are in the forecast and you don't want to bring a full hardshell. The hood fits great over a helmet and material, while lightweight, is stretchy and can hold up to mild rock abrasion. The blue is a great color choice. Only downside is a lack of side pockets. I'm 5'4" and 125 and the small is a perfect fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kate from Love this jacket! This is BD's answer to the Patagonia Houdini and I think it's a much better technical jacket. I like that this jacket stretches, is fairly water resistant and layers better than the Houdini (and doesn't smell as bad over time...). I have been using it in monsoon storms, in mosquito-filled canyons, on alpine adventures and am very happy with it's performance. Plus it looks great! I am a small/medium in general and ordered the small in this jacket and am happy with the fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by luvtoski3 from Light weight = high performance I love my new jacket ... have only used a few times this winter, snowshoeing, ski touring and walking. Fits really well, is very light weight so barely notice I'm wearing it, so far has performed very well as a shell or part of layering system. Looking forward to using it for high aerobic activities such as Nordic Skiing, cycling etc... Although I've only had the jacket for a few weeks, it has quickly become a 'go to' option for many of my outdoor activities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cabra_de_montana from My favorite jacket I love this jacket! I bought it almost a year ago. It works well in the rain and wind. I've taken it on multi-pitch climbs and have been happy to have the ability fold it up and clip it to my harness. I just ran a 55k with it and during the race it rained on and off. It dried quickly and is so comfortable. I'm actually online today to order a second one. I'm 5'8 and 135 pounds. I wear a small and its long enough for my torso.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Diana from Love this jacket! I've had this jacket for almost a year now and I've worn it weekly for every outdoor adventure since I got it. It fits awesomely, looks great, and moves well. The hood easily fits over my BD Vapor helmet. I love that you can stuff it into its own small pocket and clip it to a harness. It weighs nothing, and takes up virtually no room in a pack. It's great for blocking wind and light rain. It dries fast. I've also taken it biking and spring ski touring. I did poke some holes into it while it was clipped to my harness when it scratched up against some rock, so it's not super burly but that's expected for such a lightweight jacket. I'm 5'5" and 135 lbs and I have a small. I love the length of the torso and sleeves - it's perfect. My only wish is that there was a second pocket... The black clip strap inside the pocket seems to be dyeing the jacket a dark color around the strap. I'm not positive that this is the cause, but it's the only area of the jacket that is turning this color. Other than that, no complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Valerie from Versatile jacket Absolutely love this jacket as a lightweight climbing/cycling wind breaker. It packs super small for a perfect travel companion. Hood has amble adjustability to fit a climbing or cycling helmet. Need to grab the hi-vis Aloe color for night riding.
