Combining unparalleled expansion range with single-stem flexibility and a narrow head width, the Black Diamond Camalot X4 represents the missing link in our gold-standard Camalot family. The smallest three sizes of the X4 feature our Stacked Axle Technology, which uses a unique machined axle to give more expansion range per size than any small four-cam unit on the market. In fact, the six sizes of the Camalot X4 cover the same range as eight sizes of comparable units. The X4's embedded cam springs allow for an ultra-narrow head width that fits in those tight spots other cams won't. Thanks to super-durable aluminum protection beads, the X4's cable withstands repeated abrasion without compromising flexibility. We also added a hot-forged trigger bar and symmetric swage to improve handling and eliminate buckling. These X4's feature minor cosmetic flaws that in no way affect their performance

  • Double axle (.75, .5 and .4) and Stacked Axle Technology (.3, .2 and .1) provide huge expansion range
  • Narrower head width than original Camalot fits in more places than ever
  • Aluminum armor beads protect cable stem without compromising flexibility
  • Symmetric swage and hot-forged trigger bar eliminate buckling and provide ergonomic handling
  • Lightweight yet durable Dyneema sling for easy identification and differentiation from other Camalots
  • Oz, HoodWire and Neutrino rackpacks available for easy racking

Cam Comparison Chart

Our range of Camalots is designed to provide protection across the full spectrum of crack sizes, from small incipient seams, to perfect hands, to full-on offwidths. Camalots, Camalot C3s, Camalot X4s and Camalot Ultralights each have their own unique advantages, and a well-rounded rack will likely contain some or all sizes of each cam. X4: The Missing Link in the Camalot Family

Camalot™ X4 is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact, flexible and for where others don’t These are a great addition to any rack. The compact head fits where other cams don’t. They are light, and very flexible. Haven’t fallen on them, but it seems the beeds would be helpful to protect the cable. Some reviews suggested these get stuck easily, but this has not been my experience. New followers had no problem getting them out even in tighter placements.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough and light I've only got to use these guys a few times so far, but they are bomber. They feel like they can take a beating and have held really well in their placement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flexible stems are awesome I love these for the ranges they cover and the flexible stems are awesome (esp. for horizontals). They seem easier to place in fiddly areas than C4s of the same size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from interesting shaft while these seem like good little cams Im a little surprised that a stronger, lighter shaft material wasnt used. the aluminum rings are just odd. probably fine, i just find them odd. I think I prefer the C3's to the X4s.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best design, durable, seems like NASA engineering. I love the X4's feel, style, durability, and overall badassness. The small range allows these to work perfect for any placement in thin cracks, seams, flakes, and splitters. The extreme flexibility in the neck allows for dynamic placement in horizontal positions, or more wandering routes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flexability Rivals any Cam! I love this cam and have now moved all my smaller pieces to the .3-.5 X4. The protected cable is my favorite feature of this amazing camming unit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Needs to be apart of your rack! One of the most important parts of my rack. The .1 and .2 expand my options for gear in those tiny cracks that can’t take stoppers. Real life savers when the time comes!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small stuff is worth the price I love the .1 and .2 because they are super versatile and can be placed all over the place. However, the .3 and above don't seem to be as usefull as the smaller cams and not worth the extra price... they are more flexible yes but that's about it.
