Rated 5 out of 5 by Scott from Super Bright, Fits Just Right! I bought the ReVolt headlamp based on others' reported experiences with Black Diamond equipment, and the excellent reputation of Black Diamond expedition gear in general. I was especially concerned about the length of the head band, as I have a size 8 head, and suffer headaches when wearing hats that are snug-fitting. However, the wide adjustability of the head band affords me a comfortable fit, even when wearing the ReVolt for extended lengths of time. As for the lighting system, it is simply brilliant! Literally AND figuratively! The many features include a wide array of intensity settings and simple operation. Being able to use either rechargeable or single-use batteries adds to the versatility of this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by WyeRiver from Good price, like the recharge, but quality lacking I like this flashlight, but I will say that the charging cover on the flashlight doesn't really fit very easily back into the charging hole without a lot of fussing. The flashlight works great and battery seems to be good, but I will say that the fact the charging cover doesn't stay shut very well is a littler concerning. I'm not sure how this is going to hold up over time and potentially impact the waterproofing ability. I also think this could be designed so that the batteries charged faster. I used the flashlight for about a straight hour and when i charged it it took roughly 2 hours to complete a charging cycle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hardrock from Great headlamp I bought a revolt 5 years ago and it still works great. I have hiked over 1,500 miles with this light in my pack and it has worked every time I pulled it out. I am still using the original rechargeable batteries that came with the headset. I just had to post after reading the negative reviews about this light and company. I am still using a diamond daypack and Z trekking poles that I bought at the same time. The older revolt is not waterproof but water has never been a problem. Still I plan to buy the newer model as it is waterproof and the other options added make it a better light than the older model.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Incline Nate from Failed after 2 days I bought this headlamp to save weight and cluster. The idea was to recharge my phone and headlamp from the same backup battery. The headlamp failed to charge and started blinking red on the second day of the trip. If you buy this headlamp, you also need to bring a backup (I had Petzl)...because it is prone to failure. Also, when you call customer service, it's like calling the cable company. "try it with regular batteries", "try charging it for 12 hours", etc. They know this headlamp sucks because they have their troubleshooting routine down pat! I think the problem is that the batteries BD is providing with this unit have a high failure rate.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Joey_schel from Revolt- Rechargeable Battery Failure Bought this headlamp especially for the rechargeable feature and after only several uses and charges the batteries will not charge (lamp flashing red while charging) and they appear to have discharged some substance. Should also note that they are a proprietary Black Diamond NiMH battery so you have to order from BD. Lamp itself is very solid and bright, love the dimming features. Headband has good adjustment and very comfortable. However a bit disappointing that the battery compartment is not part of the sealed waterproof area. I would recommend the lamp to others if the rechargeable battery issues were resolved. Reading through reviews it seems i'm not the only one with this issue. Joe

Rated 4 out of 5 by Scoot from High Tech Features I've owned the ReVolt for only few days, so this is a very preliminary report. I think I am reporting on the new version of the ReVolt. The large number of settings on this headlamp allows it to cast a long beam, throw a wide beam for close-up work, and both of these settings are dim able as you require. What I like most is the head band, which is adjustable enough to comfortably accommodate my big melon (size 8 hat). One very usable feature is the tap-it feature, which allows you to change the led being used with a single tap on the side of the housing...neat! Curiously, using plain old Alkaline batteries allows the light to both throw a stronger beam, and also extend the life of the batteries as compared to using the BD rechargeable...I don't think I'll really use the rechargeable batteries much. So, first impressions, the light seems well built, is plenty bright to my eyes, and has lots of features and adjustments, which I am just starting to learn. 4 stars instead of 5? I haven't had it long enough to call it "perfect"...yet...

Rated 5 out of 5 by Singu1arity from Powerful, Great battery life, Recharging is bonus I bought this for my wife and promptly stole it from her for a trip on Mt. Rainier. It was a great light with tons of pathfinding power, good close spread, and the batteries lasted for a whole trip and likely will last for several more. The ability to recharge batteries in unit is super nice. Best headlamp I have every used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DLil from Great product improved I bought the original ReVolt because I hate going through so many alkaline batteries, but needed the flexibility to use the lamp on trips without electricity for over a month. I was very happy with the old model of the ReVolt, and when I lost it I decided to replace with the updated version. The new one is great, with a number of small improvements over the old. I like the increased weather resistance, brightness, and battery life. The lamp is bright enough to feel confident route finding on rock or glacier at night, even with the (less bright) rechargables. Charging is quick and easy, and I like that it uses a standard micro USB. If you go on trips long enough that one cycle of rechargable batteries is insufficient, this lamp is the best on the market in my opinion. If you would never need to put alkalines in it (i.e. you are never out for more than a week or ten days at a time, or you always go to sleep early, etc.), I'd consider choosing something cheaper and exclusively rechargable.
