Designed to provide unparalleled comfort for all day cragging and gym sessions, the Momentum is a two-strap Velcro shoe that combines innovative technology with a classic, flat-last design to create an entry-level shoe that excels in performance. With an upper fabric that consists entirely of our Engineered Knit Technology, the Momentum provides stretch where you need it, support where it matters and all around exceptional breathability. We’ve also added a micro-fiber liner to the front of the shoe to minimize stretch and maximize comfort. The Momentum’s durable rubber is unique in that it’s molded—inspired by the way we forge our carabiners—versus cut from one sheet of rubber. This is our engineered solution to optimize our shoe’s rubber and rands for weight, consistency and comfort. Built for all-day comfort on moderate routes, boulders or gym sessions, the Momentum features a soft-flex midsole for sensitivity and is the perfect entry level climbing shoe.

Climb Shoe Comparision

Momentum Climbing Shoes - Men's is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 65.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all day shoe Bought this for the all day multi-pitch stuff. Great for this, sticky yet comfortable. I have sweaty feet and this breaths well. Sole remains stiff, even after extensive use. So don't expect them to be a good vert shoe eventually. Size runs big when compared to Euro brands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Gym Shoe I've had these about a month and used them many times in the gym. They're great for beginner/intermediate climbing and I love that my feet don't get too hot (or hot at all) while wearing them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super!! I bought them for gym climbing, but ended up with using them for long days climbing outside and they are fantastic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Starter shoe I bought them 2 months ago. As a beginner climber these shoes are great. The rubber sticks very well and they are very comfortable and seem to perform well both in the gym and outside. They are also very well priced. The only strange quirk I've come across is that they tend to be very tight at the start of a session and then they loosen up towards the end of a long session (3+ hours)...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Runs small These for me and my wife ran a full half size small. Was annoyed to have to return but otherwise are fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly comfortable gym shoe After 10 months of climbing on my Momentums, I am happy to give them a 5 star review. I only wear them indoors, and have other shoes I feel would hold up better to outdoor climbing. They are my everyday gym shoe. They fit true to size, and edge better than expected on tiny indoor holds, but also smear well when needed. All that said, I still can't get over how comfortable they are. I use a pair of BD Focus shoes when I need just a bit more aggressive shoe, and while those are comfortable, the comfort between the Momentum and Focus is a day and night. At their price point I have zero hesitation recommending them to someone looking for an everyday gym shoe.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It is not durable poor quality extreme wear. I climb three years I have used several brands of scalding shoes which have lasted at least 8 months (3 times a week) so I saw a good option in the Black Diamond Momentum comfortable enough grip but they gave me a bad experience in quality and wear, after two months of use (twice a week) the front part of the fabric of the foot was torn and two weeks later the tip was split vertically giving the impression of a very used cat and old truth I was disappointed because I expected better quality and duration of an article of the brand of Black Diamond.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Look nice but doesn't deliver on all fronts So much of a climbing shoe comes down to fit in order to get the performance. If considering the Momentum shoes, these are the areas I would want to know beforehand: Fit: Myself and 3 other people I know who bought these, would go a size larger if given the choice, probably because the toe box is pointed to the big toe, so if you're one of those people with a longer second toe, go larger or steer clear all together. Rubber: Sticky, great for smearing, but doesn't toe in on holds like the more aggressive shapes, nor does it last long in the gym. The heel strap is also sticky, which is better than average for heel hooks, but then the cup for the heel is also rather deep - not a selling point if you have an average heel shape. The toe box of the shoe is very stiff due to the molded design, so they will take some breaking in. Upper: I love the snug fit of the knit uppers, and they are well made. No risk of blisters from silly seams or shoe movement. So much rubber decreases breathability, but they hold their shape well and reinforce the metatarsals. Overall: A solid shoe, though it doesn't really distinguish itself as anything special for me. I think I would like these better in a larger size, where the shape wouldn't be as much of an issue for my feet. As it is, I can manage a climb or two in them before I need to get my feet out to avoid hangnails.
