Description

A durable and reliable freeride pole with the added benefit of an integrated backup avalanche probe, the Black Diamond Boundary Probe Ski Pole is built for the day-in/day-out thrashing of big lines and resort/backcountry crossovers. The Boundary’s sturdy aluminum construction and FlickLock® Pro adjustability make for versatile performance without breaking the bank, and the poles lower shafts screw together to form a 182 cm backup avalanche probe for snow study or avalanche response.

  • 18 mm (0.71 in) aluminum upper with 16 mm (0.63 in) lower
  • Freeride Series grip with grippy, dual-density rubber in palm zone and an aggressive hooking point for leveraging bars and buckles
  • Freeride Series strap with easy-access design and lengthened pull tab hangs open and distributes weight evenly across the hand
  • Lower shafts screw together to form a 182 cm (71.5 in) probe (using 100-125 cm poles) for backup or secondary use
  • Soft Touch upper shaft features grippy coating for touring functionality
  • FlickLock Pro adjustability and security with 100 mm (4 in) Powder Baskets

Boundary Probe Ski Poles - Past Season is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple/Purposeful/Durable Poles I own three pairs of these poles and never had an issue with any of them. I'm pretty hard on my gear and I used to break at least a handful of poles every year, but I've only yet broken two bottom shafts over the last three + years with these. They are durable (the strap, the shafts, the basket, etc), the flick lock works like a charm and I like the simple design. Plus, the handle feels great and the baskets are on point. Really, these are the best poles I've ever owned and I never plan on going back to buying any other poles. They work as well for the hill as they do in the back country. Easy to adjust on the go and you can do it while keeping your gloves/mitts (yes, MITTS) on. And the best part is most likely that if the bottom or top shaft breaks, you can buy replacement parts on BD's website instead of buying a whole new set of poles. Now obviously these are not the lightest poles out there if one wants to be technically annoying, but if you decide to stop being a snobby gear-focused skier and build a tiny bit of muscle, this is the best buy you'll ever make as far as skiing gear goes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay so so Great poles but they rattle like a baby toy and it bugs me I hate stuff the clicks and makes noise when your on the quiet snow. Can't fix it hope they warranty these baby rattles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Product Only warning: Adjust the set screw associated with the flicklock before going out. Then bear weight on the pole to make sure you have it tight enough. I have done 3 days of back country skiing with these poles. It's nice to clip them to the bag collapsed. Being able to adjust the pole shorter for uphill treks, then back to skiing length is sweet. The grips have a nice feel. The flicklock is easily operated with any type of gloves. The wrist strap is durable. I had pulled a 200lb buddy without breaking it. I am the only dude I have seen with slightly purple poles. Solid product.
