Rated 5 out of 5 by DaveK from Awesome harness! I've used this harness about a dozen times now, and I absolutely love it. The Technician harness is perfect - Very light, supremely comfortable, just the right amount of padding in the right places. The only possible problem with it might be that the gear loops are smaller than normal, but I haven't taken it up a wall yet to be sure (the big loop on the back probably makes up for the smaller side loops). For reference: The Technician is as light as, and more comfortable than the Aquila (without the slipping leg loop buckles), *much* more comfortable than the AR-395a, and much lighter and much more comfortable than the Corax. BD really nailed this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BWPete from good value, easy to use, light weight and simple Bought this harness after i started questioning my much older one that had been through the wringer. First time going for the auto-double back buckles, and the more "stylish" model. I still prefer the old fashioned double back, and wish they were still being made. The functionality is about what i'd expect from any standard harness, and i appreciate that it is sleeker, lighter and more compact than older style BD harnesses. The belay loop is very stiff, and the way it is stitched can give the sensation that the carabiner is cross loaded and resetting. This may lessen as the harness breaks in. I don't love the way the leg loops ride, but i'm still happy wearing the harness, and would recommend it as a simple functional multipurpose harness.

Rated 2 out of 5 by JWJW from Lightweight! Everything too small Most of the features are great. It's light, comfy, 5 gear loops!! (lets get more of that) but there are two-three things I HATE about this harness. In the order in which they bother me, 1 being the worst: 1) The waist buckle is REALLY hard to loosen. very odd 2) The gear loops are small. how am i supposed to fit all my gear on these little tiny loops? I like that there is a 5th one, but I dont want to use that for everything 3) It runs small. I got what should totally be my size but I have to get it really tight for the gear loops to be positioned in any kind of normal way. the back one on the left is barely visible to me until its really snug. This Harness could have been perfect. but there were just a couple little design choices they made that make me wish I had bought something else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Matt from The best A perfect improvement of the Aspect harness. It does everything, is as comfortable as much fancier harnesses, and is cheaper. Splitting the webbing three ways is as fancy as any harness needs to get - I don't notice an increase in comfort when harnesses do fancier stuff and cost more. Love the placement of the 5th gear loop, low instead of stacked on the waistbelt like the Aspect did - better for chimneys. One and only area for improvement is that I would prefer a beefy dedicated haul loop. But the 5th gear loop seems strong enough

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dom R from Good all around harness Bought this to replace my aspect harness, I loved the aspect but was always rather annoyed by the buckles. They required kind of a separation of the two parts with your fingers to loosen them that was finicky. Not the worst thing in the world, but I've used better designs. The leg loops on this harness address this and they open quickly with a swift tug. Unfortunately the waist buckle is still the same as the aspect and requires the separation technique, sort of a pain when you're adding and removing layers ice climbing. Aside from that I like the wider waist belt and leg loops and the lower 5th gear loop is easier to access than the aspects was. Wouldn't necessarily consider this an "intro level harness" I used the aspect for guiding for a year and I plan on doing the same with the technician. It's just a good, do it all, harness. Could maybe have some wider gear loops, but the 5th loop helps move things out of the way. Interested to see how well the thinner belay loop stands up to abuse, seems to be really durable for its size.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Harness Reviewer from Pressure Points I really like the overall design and features of this harness. However, BD always seems to incorporate small and obvious design flaws into most of their products, which ends up negating any of the upsides of their overall function. The hard plastic gear loops are sewn into the UNDERSIDE of the swami (the side that makes contact with your body), which results in 4 hard pressure points on each hip. Maybe it is the way that the harness fits me personally, but it seems like such an obvious design flaw that shouldn't have made it past the drawing board. If you look at any other company's harnesses you will notice how the gear loops are sewn into the outer side of the swami. Also, if you are going to design a "quiver of one harness", at least put a burly haul loop on it. The plastic 0kn tab doesn't inspire much confidence when trailing a line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by brywhyyy from Nailed it! It's lightweight and low profile but still comfortable and utilitarian. I've put it through the wringer on long rock routes (10+ pitches) with plenty of rappelling and hanging belays and was super impressed with the comfort (I was worried that given how minimalist it is, it would dig into my legs and waist on the rappel. This is not the case). But the best thing is that it just "gets out of the way" while climbing. I hardly notice it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by breezy from So good Really, really enjoying this harness. Haven't spent significant time sitting in it yet (nothing more than hanging in the gym) but it is very comfortable to wear and sit in like that, lightweight, sweet colors and doesn't restrict my movements whatsoever. Climbing feels unobstructed. I can walk in that puppy and forget it's on. I like it more than my old black diamond Focus. It's kind of hard to beat this one for the price. It was true to size given the waist measurements.
