WHY ACTIVE suspension?

WHY ACTIVE suspension?

Black Diamond packs built with our award-winning active suspension systems—ergoACTIV, ergoACTIV XP, reACTIV and reACTIV XP—are unparalleled in comfort, efficiency and load transfer. Because the shoulder straps and hipbelt move with you, friction and hot spots are eliminated. The pack’s load stays perfectly balanced at all times—without adjustment—and allows your body to move naturally in any direction. This results in a more efficient, comfortable, longer stride—meaning you can cover more ground, more quickly.

Mission 75 Pack is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and Tough Used the Mission 75 for a two-week ski-mountaineering trip and it was exceptional. Extremely comfortable and lightweight, yet strong enough for a full load and skis/crampons/tools at times. Definitely a great upgrade from my tried-and-true Andinista.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ALMOST MY FAVOURITE PACK.. This is one of the only backpacks that fit my back perfectly, especially with such lightweight and quality foam straps. The suspension system certainly makes even heavy loads quite comfortable, with slim but secure hip straps. The buckles are durable and well positioned. Very accepting of both smaller and much larger loads. A fantastic bag for alpine climbing or backpacking enthusiasts who appreciate a low profile pack. My main concerns are: Crampon pouch fits all models very well, however does not close at the top; so snow tends to get in the pocket when you're actually using your crampons. I simply stitched my own Velcro strips, for a pretty easy fix. If only this thing had side pockets.. I understand it was meant to be lightweight, but this additional feature would not have weighed much at all. Would have been exceptionally handy for holding crevasse rescue kits, nalgenes, speakers (I love trail jams), or everything else! Black Diamond, SIDE POCKETS. PLEASE INSTALL HIGH RETENTION SIDE POCKETS ON THE MISSION 75.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sizing misleading My back measurement (C7 vertebra to iliac crests) is 44.5 cm, putting me firmly in the S/M size bracket (41-48 cm) and well below the M/L size bracket (47-55 cm). Maybe this is just the shape of my hips or shoulders or something, but I found the S/M too short for my torso; if I loosened the shoulder straps far enough that the weight sat on my hips, then the top of the pack sagged away from my back, even with the load adjustment straps cinched all the way down. I found the M/L size fit me much better, despite my measurements. Be prepared to try the next size up if you have the same problem. I didn't want to rate this pack yet, as I have not yet used it, but this is a required field, so I'll give it 4 stars for now...may change it later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack, not just for climbing Use this primarily as a packrafting/backpacking pack. Brought to India/Nepal for two months of trekking. Held up like a champ being tossed around chicken buses and survived a 500' tumble down a 60 degree slope (bashing through Rhododendrons and catching air a few times) with barely a scratch. Pros: -Side zipper to easily grab stuff at bottom of pack -Burliness and quality zippers -Simple, lightweight design -Comfy! Cons: -Would like side pouches for Nalgenes or to stuff paddles for extra security while beating through AK brush Great pack!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pros and Cons Pros: The Mission pack series is a well thought out full features climber's pack. Cons: suspension is flexible and adjustable but is missing the curvature of the frame away from the lower back directing the weight to the hips that is common in Osprey packs. Also, the pack is not waterproof as I found out the hard way in the Oregon rain. Your kit, insulation layers and chalk bag get wet in the pack when it rains. One other con, the smaller packs in the Mission series have ridged shoulder straps which is hard on you if you are just wearing a t-shirt and not wearing a jacket or something to create padding between the straps and you. The Mission 75 does have softer straps that should be on the whole line. Overall a great climber's pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for its Purpose This pack is essentially a modernized version of the cult classic Cold Cold World Chaos. With the lighter gear that is available these days, this pack is all you'll ever need whether for bigger undertakings or even cinched down for day trips. This pack is featured for climbing but truly will do anything. I recently did a ski descent of Mt Rainier w the Mission 75, and it handled all the gear for a normal mountaineering effort as well as carrying skis and boots while on the trail. My old Gregory Denali 100 liter has now retired.
