Speed 30 Pack is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pack I have three Speed packs (30, 40, 50) that I purchased after trying one that a client was using. I love the minimal junk hanging on the outside as I like uncluttered function rather than a lot of unnecessary gadgets, pockets and widgets on the outside. The one downside is that the top pocket and seams are not at all waterproof in a downpour (as I discovered last summer). I purchased seam sealer and sealed everything up which has altered the appearance to a degree, but I don't care. The function is what really matters to me and the speed line has it all in spades. Would warrant a five star rating but for this issue. I would certainly recommend the Speed line to anyone who values function, reasonable weight and clean lines.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice pack but not flawless I bought this pack as my new touring backpack for skiing and for short trekkings. I really like the minimalistic look, with a lot of choice in which straps you want to use or get rid of. Last week I also took it with me during a three day summer mountain trekking through the Austrian alps. During the three days I experienced all sorts of weather: sun, rain and snow. Even though the backpack was pretty packed, I still experienced a lot of trouble with the top part of the backpack. It wouldn't fit nicely so there was an open space between the lose top and the upper part of the pack, making the inside more vulnerable for rain and other wetness. After walking in the rain for a day, a lot of the stuff inside the pack felt wet. This will make me think twice about bringing the Speed 30 backpack with me in the mountains during the winter period.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A bit disapointed I bought this backpack last year and I've been using it for all my activities (mountaineering, climbing, skiing and daily city life.) But sadly there's two main things that made me drop it for a different backpack (different brand too.) First, the back frame changed shape after some use (maybe some heavier load?) making it very uncomfortable to carry. And second, the top flap would never ever stay in place, not when the back pack was full nor when the backpack was empty completely misshaping it and leaving a open gap behind the shoulder straps for all the water to go straight in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack I've had this pack for a few months now and it's so comfortable to carry around. Weight is evenly distributed so even after super long treks there isn't much to complain about. Overall it's held up well in all conditions, only concern is that the top portion of the pack never wants to stay in place whether or not the pack is full. Hopefully BD will make improvements in the future because I'll probably pick up another when this one bites the dust.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good all-rounder The size is good for lots of activities. It was easy to sew the lid to the body, ditch the plastic framesheet, and make a few other small mods to get it just where I want it. The older design with the bike cable in the shoulder straps was unnecessary and I'm glad to see that extra weight gone. The padded bottom is a nice touch. It means that sometimes a compactor bag inner liner is not needed. But if it's going to be a wet trip (often) lining the pack and lid with plastic bags is the standard Cascade way to keep things truly dry. The quick-release buckles on the sides make it quick to attach skis and boots A-frame style. It was easy to add a diagonal-carry system for situations when boots are on the feet. The easy-to-remove crampon straps are nice because most of the time the crampons are inside the pack anyway, and now I don't break the strap buckles sitting on the pack. The firm density of the shoulder and waist straps is good for climbing and skiing. It's a small pack made for light trips and the size and density of the straps is perfect for the application. The plastic sternum strap mounts have a knack of popping off once in a while. The lid is a nice size and is made so that you can undo the zipper even when everything is strapped down tight. Well done. Overall it's nice to see BD get back to basics with their packs, kind of like they used to be. Nice job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely love this pack. Used this a lot this winter for ice climbing day trips. Climbed some multi-pitch and day long epics with this thing. Super comfortable. Packed well. Just really love this thing!
