Apollo Lantern is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great with good design features Used this while car camping and hiking in Utah. It provided good bright light. I like that it uses a rechargeable batteries backed up by some regular batteries. I really liked it for car camping and wonder a bit about using it for hiking again. Although not that heavy everyone has head lights already that seem to last forever these days. The fold out feet work very nicely to give the light some height off the ground. The top hooks make hanging it easy. It is certainly bright enough and can be dimmed for longer battery life. I will be curious to use it this winter in snow caves or huts as i think it will be very good for that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great update from the old version Black Diamond replaced for free and with out question my faulty earlier version of this lantern with this model. That process was surprisingly painless and I was psyched to get this new cooler model unexpectedly. I thought they had sent me the wrong version initially because it is a slightly different form factor. It's a great improvement over the older model. The built in rechargeable battery is what I wished the older version had and it's really nice that you can also use store bought batteries in a pinch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for camping, a little heavy for hiking Charges fairly quickly. Will slowly loose charge when stored, but you can leave it plugged in. Works great for car/tent camping; nice diffuse light, pop out stand, pop out hooks for tent lantern loop. Easy to change the modes. Good for a couple nights with the integrated rechargeable battery. Haven't used it enough to run down a set of AA alkaline batteries in it yet. For camping, it's definitely a bit bulky and heavy. I'd much rather use my storm for that. Would be OK if you are two-person hiking where one has the tent and the other has some extra space and weight allowance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bigger, Heavier and Not Bright First off, I notice that the website now calls this a 225 lumen lantern which is 25 lumens LESS than previously advertised and how my instructions describe it. I guess I'm not the only one who has discovered it isn't as bright as expected. I'd call it a 125 lumen lantern at best. Oh it is cool and all and I guess rechargeable batteries are an improvement to some folks, but it isn't bright and it is MUCH bigger. I have two of the old version Apollo (2015) which were rated at 200 lumens and one is EXTREMELY bright while the other is less so. Both are WAY brighter than this lantern and a lot smaller. Bottom line, if you want bright and can live withOUT rechargeable batteries... ...get the old Apollo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lantern This lantern is a must when guiding big groups. I used to have a Moji XP, but I have switch to the Apollo and I am very pleased. First, more lumens = more light and yes, the Apollon gives you a lot of it! Also, I love the fact you can only use the integrated battery on short trips and that you can use batteries for longer trips. At first, I felt the legs would be a problem or would be fragile, but after a couple of use guiding, I am surprise with it's durability. The legs are a good option when working on a shelf or table, and the hooks are amazing for hanging under a tarp while cooking. So far, I think this lantern is well suited for guiding groups and is a good option for personal trips if weight is not an issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Someone did their homework on this lantern I sits with the legs folded up, with the legs down it becomes very stable on uneven ground, and the light is dispersed from all angles except the top. It also works well hanging. Being rechargeable is a great feature since it can be charging while enroute to a camping spot. The "memory" of turning it on and having the brightness at the same level as when it was turned off is a nice feature, as is the "Lock" feature to keep it from accidentally being on. This one deserves the "Black Diamond" brand!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good update The good: I love the Apollo lanterns. I had two of the first generation, and purchased the rechargeable battery pack for each. Last year I gave one to my daughter. Later the rechargeable battery pack lost a wire from a connection (my fault). Not finding a replacement pack I replaced the old one with the current version. I liked it so much I purchased a second one. We use them at home for emergency lighting, in the RV, and when picnicking into the evening - because we can. I love the new version. The bad: Both of the newer lights came with bad charging cables. This is not such a big deal because cables are everywhere. That said given the cost and the quality of other Black Dimond equipment I have purchased in the past it was troubling to have this glitch. Note; If I could have taken off a half star I would have given the product 4.5 stars our of 5. I do like these lanterns.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from yep, great used it for a camping trip june 2018. it's very stable on the ground, ideal to hang up. no glare, it's all well thought-through. used it in the lowest setting to avoid need for electricity at the camp sites. in 10 days, no need to recharge, then switched it on at home and to my surprise, it remained on for another 2 days, also in lowest setting. for me, this is fantstic.
