With a push button housing that lets you easily switch from full power to dimmed, strobe or red night vision, the Ion has the functionality of a bigger light, with none of the extra weight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Eric from Excellent headlamp - lightweight and easy to use This is a great headlamp to keep in the pack. It is very lightweight (only two AAA batteries for power) and easy to use. A single button toggles on/off, white/red, solid/strobe, and brightness/dimness. I really like the fact that BD allows the user to go through a full range of brightness rather than using two or three preset levels. The strap is simple and easy to adjust, making the headlamp quickly adaptable to a range of head shapes and sizes, or to bare head, hat, or helmet. Finally, the ability to lock the headlamp and prevent it from inadvertently turning on is one of my favorite features that has found its way into Black Diamond headlamps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mikeonthemountain from Perfect small light I got mine a few months and have been using it daily ever since. I live up off the grid at 8k feet and use it for everything around the cabin from late nite wood splitting, making daytime repair in the cabin to stoking up the hot tub fire at 3am, and as a back up skiing. I have easily put what would normally be 5 years worth of wear on it with no problems. I have primarily used BD gear for years and trust it but had a bad experience with a different head lamp years ago. They seem to have worked all the bugs out now. I was bummed at the time but given their quality figured they would fix things and got this one. It is small, light, simple to operate, good brightness and battery life. In really cold -10 or below on full bright the low batt warning lite comes on after about 3 hours. Now that its in the 20-40s I rarely have to change them. Spring is trying to happen so hope to be taking it on noctournal bouldering adventures soon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by profpopperscooper from Love It - But.... I bought this for a handy lightweight headlamp for urban adventures - mostly scooping p**p (can't believe your site won't let me say p**p - that cost you one star). Ah well. It rocks and has become my favourite of many for all sorts of uses, and I will probably get another couple. BUT! red lamp on mine flashes all the time it seems (not just when it is being locked/unlocked). Would like to figure this out but I can't find a decent set of instructions or trouble-shooting guide anywhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by robh61 from good price, complete feature set We have 2 of these, check the specs, they have just about everything. It ticks my wants: waterproof, red option, adjustable, lockable, low is fine as sleeping night light. The brief flash at max and min is useful. It would be helpful to have the instructions available online - there is a learning curve to access all the features and i've forgotten how to activate the strobe alarm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nat from A must for the going lite weight. The newest version has finally won my praises! I honestly was not a fan of the touchscreen model but now that the Ion has adapted a more conventional on/off/dim button - this tiny, yet powerful light is near flawless. It's so light you won't notice it in your pack but provides ample brightness and longevity to get you through any adventures. One of it's best attributes - it's so light weight than it makes for an amazing running headlamp. It's almost non-existant mass doesn't bounce on your head. Awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by natan from Amazing Head Lamp This is the best head lamp I have ever bought. The price is very good. This new model is significantly brighter that the old model. The red mode is my favorite for night time use. The customer service is excellent. They replaced my old headlamp that had a malfunction and gave me the new model free of charge. The replacement arrived in less than a week. Do something good for yourself buy this easy to use headlamp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nick from Worth its weight in gold This is a great little headlamp. The best thing about it is the size. On more than a few occasions this thing has saved me from coming down off climbs in the dark. Its size makes it easily packable even if you aren't bringing a pack, store it away in your extra layer's pocket. There is a big difference between a headlamp and no headlamp, this little thing makes it easy to spare the minimal weight. I bring the BD storm when I know I will need a headlamp or be relying on it, I bring the Ion when I might need one or I am counting grams.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jan from Good Lamp but Touch is unpractical I bought this lamp for ultra light bikepacking, and the Size, Lumen and Form factor are spot on but ... The touch engages in bag and when the Lamp is needed the battery is empty. Even wrapping the Lamp so nothing could touch the touch aera didn't Help.
