Saga 40 JetForce Avalanche Airbag Pack is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely well engineered bag - worth every penny I bought this backpack at the start of the season, and have been extremely happy with the pack. The battery powered airbag works extremely well and the multiple deployment system is very reassuring. The bag is advertised as 40 litres, the usable space (deducting space the airbag takes up) is around 30, but is still enough for a multi-day trip if you pack light. All the pockets are extremely well designed, particularly the avalanche gear front pocket and hip pocket. The only negative I have found so far is that the ski straps for when hiking do not feel secure - this led to some worrying moments when boot packing to the summit of steep mountains!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good tech but average for the cost I have been looking at avy bags for a while but have been deterred by the price and wanted to wait for the technology to be flushed out a bit. I bought this one because it had great reviews and the fan system is more versatile. I have been on two trips with it now and had high expectations given the price. A few things I was displeased with; - Packing the back for an overnighter, I quickly realized that this is not a 'multi-day' ski touring bag as advertised. After putting overnight essentials, avy gear/skins, food for a night and a down jacket, the bag was full and I had to try to strap things to the outside or get friends to take it. (water, stove/gas, food) - I also found out quickly that the side panel frequently pops open when the bag is full; something that is not very easy for a friend to close or with gloves on. - One of the helmet holder clips broke the first time I used it. - The avy tools pocket is nice and accessible but bigger shovel blades do not fit very well inside it. The fan system is great and I have no complaints. It is nice to be able to demo the bag. The bag itself is pretty average and is less functional than advertised.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from great bag features but too heavy to use Not sure why I need a battery that has five deployments. I would rather have a lighter battery and two deployments. This bag is just too heavy; once I have loaded it with glacier travel gear and the rest of guiding gear. I know I am going to be leaving this bag at home a lot because of the weight. I am looking to replace with a canister bag that is half the weight if I put a carbon fiber canister in it. The rest of the bag is very well designed. It does carry the weight well, very good weight training.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Airbag Pack! 99.99% of the time this is just going to be normal backpack for you – and aside from a little extra weight, it's a perfect pack! The size is great for everything from short day trips to multi-day hut trips. Everything is well laid out with enough pockets to stay organized, but without adding too much weight. The pack carries very well, and has become my go-to touring pack. It's thin and wide and carries just as well empty as it does full, and there isn't much weight savings by going for a smaller volume model. For those two reasons, I think the 40L is the most versatile model and is the best choice even if you only plan on using it for day tours. You really can't go wrong with this pack, and I can't imagine using a canister model after this technology came out. Being able to practice deploying it and not being afraid to is worth a lot. Buy it, you won't regret it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The right choice! I have used this on several tours and I am happy with it in every respect. As mentioned in several reviews, it is heavier than a similar pack without airbag, but that is to be expected. And you should get the 40 liter pack if you normally use a 30ish liter pack without airbag. The fan/battery/airbag combination does use a fair bit of space. For guiding and work missions, this is the pack. If you are just using the pack for day tours and are not guiding, then the Halo 28 might be just fine. I appreciate all of the features like the helmet holder and ski carrier. The pack has been very well thought out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Product Used the Saga 40 last season while ski patrolling and cat ski guiding. Having worked using a number of other airbag pack systems in the past this is by far the best of the bunch. I prefer the Jetforce system over the cartridge system for a series of reasons number one being the ability to practice deploying the airbag without having to deal with acquiring a new cartridge after every practice deployment. Also repacking the airbag after a practice deployment is super simple compared to some the other system. Plenty of room in the pack for all my patrolling/guiding equipment with room left over for explosives. The pack is very well built and carries great. Looking forward to another season of patrolling and guiding using the Saga 40!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from FIRST GLANCE REVIEW: Great pack so far! **I'm not considering the fantastic JetForce airbag in this review... it lives in its own realm of awesome within the airbag market for now** This pack fits great, and functions well. One star deducted with the following bullet points (both + and - ) - It is NOT 40L huge... It's a good long day patrol pack, that may be been 40L before adding JetForce, but as is, it feels more like 30+L of packable space. YMMV. + It is fantastically simple, no extra bells and whistles that aren't purely functional. + There are well placed handles front and rear - The tools pocket doesn't fit a BD Evac 7 shovel very well. + non-tools pockets are easy to get to and well sized (just not 40L in total space...) - There isn't a zip-up hydration sleeve on the pack strap.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The fact you can fly with this pack is great and the reason I bought it. The concept of a compressor to inflate the airbag is good. The arming and disarming and electronics seem very good. So far the only problem is the pack tends to unravel when pushing through scrub and trees and putting the clips back on is a fiddle. Otherwise the pack design is great! A detailed instructional video on the packs features would have been good.
