No stranger to crossover, the Black Diamond Alpine FLZ is the best Z-pole for four-season use, just as at home on a summer jaunt far from the trailhead as on a winter tour deep in the backcountry. With 60 mm Trekking Baskets and Compactor Powder Baskets that are easily swapped to provide four-season usability, it also features an aluminum construction combined with a three-section foldable design that keeps your load light and fast.

  • Natural cork grip with dual-density top and breathable, moisture-wicking strap
  • Non-slip EVA foam grip extension
  • Three-section foldable shaft with speed cone deployment and FlickLock Pro adjustability
  • Aluminum construction
  • Flex Tech Tips allow either carbide or rubber tips to be used
  • 60 mm Trekking Baskets and Compactor powder Baskets
Z-Pole Rapid Deployment System

Z-Pole Rapid Deployment System

  • Concealed inner cord
  • Single push-button release to collapse the pole
  • One-pull, Speed Cone deployment

Speed Cone technology comes from our expertise in avalanche probe design—a key component of Z-Poles' stiffness and fast deployment. Simply grab the grip and the first shaft section, and pull them away from each other. The pole will snap into place and lock. Each Speed Cone guides a shaft section into place, and stiffens the joint when the pole is locked. Protective, flexible tube ends cover the pole’s Kevlar® center cord when folded.

Alpine FLZ Trekking Poles - 2017 is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best of Both Worlds These are great poles as they combine the compactness of a foldable pole with the adjustability of a FlickLock design. I use them for trekking and mountaineering approaches. They are comfortable and adjustable on the trail and easily stowed in the pack during a mountain climb. They are also plenty sturdy and lightweight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Health Issue I have lung issues and after back surgery needed help in building back my strength. I use them for walking on hard surface AND it is much easier to walk longer distances with the assistance of these poles. They are great! They easily fold up into my luggage when I travel. They come with a small and large powder basket but if you use them on hard surfaces, you will need to order the rubber tips that slip on over the metal tips. Since I live in Florida, I take off the powder baskets but when we travel to the snow, I take off the rubber tips and put back on powder baskets. At any level, these seem to be great poles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfy Straps I appreciate getting both baskets included. The pole length measurement numbers don't seem like they will rub off. I would like the cork on the handles a bit softer (whatever) but the wrist straps are the most comfortable I have ever used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really love these poles After buying a smaller backpack for an upcoming trip, I needed a set of poles that would fit inside my pack whilst it is in the aircraft hold, these poles do just that, the feature I like the most is that I can set the height I require and then break the poles down into three short sections, when I need them again I simply open them up and they are ready, no messing with setting the length again. I also like the extended handle length, meaning that the poles do not require adjustment when climbing, you simply grip the handle lower down, thus reducing the length for steeper terrain. These are my first Black Diamond poles and should last for years, I will certainly purchase these again in the future when it becomes necessary.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mixed bag Love the Z pole concept – they are wonderful to travel with. Lost one of my trekking Z Poles on a recent trip and bought these to replace it because they have snow baskets and are good for winter travel as well. They are significantly heavier than the standard tracking poll, which is a negative, but have the great design and a terrific locking system

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice idea, poor construction They do pack down nice and small, but eventually - it has happened to many people I know - when collapsing the pole the metal sleeve gets stuck in the top section and they never work again. It is a great idea, but the reality is disappointing. Three stars because they were great while they worked.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light and convenient Only about 100 miles on them, but so far they are reliable and easy to use.I was happy with the way they packed for travel.
