DescriptionFor serious cold-weather adventurers, the 320-lumen Black Diamond Icon-Polar Headlamp is engineered with a focus on preserving battery life even in frigid temperatures. A detachable battery housing allows for easy removal and stowage for increased battery life retention while decreasing the amount of weight on your head. A red night-vision mode easily protects your night vision, while dimming, strobe and lock modes add lighting options for all conditions. Waterproof up to 1 m, the Icon-Polar is truly an all-weather light.
- One QuadPower LED spotlight, two SinglePower white LEDs and two SinglePower red LEDs emit 320 lumens (max. setting)
- Detached battery housing holds four AA batteries to reduce headband weight and conserve power in bitter cold.
- Settings include full strength in proximity and distance modes, dimming, strobe, red night vision and lock move
- Three-level power meter shows remaining battery life for three seconds after switching on headlamp
- IPX7: Waterproof—Best for saltwater and extremely wet environments. Unit is completely sealed and tested to operate up to 1 meter underwater for 30 minutes. Requires no maintenance after submersion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Michael from Serious lamp I purchased this lamp to replace my older BD lamp which was run over by an automobile. That light was 15 years old and worked as well as the day I got it. This one seems to work just as well. I like I can keep the batteries warm. I've had it out in near minus 30f in Adirondacks! Several times several miles, several ice climbing pitches. Same batteries. Lamp has been wacked a couple times by falling ice. Looks, works fine. This lamp takes more then I can dish out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sirpeacekeeper from Love this headlamp I purchased this headlamp quite a while ago and it keeps on working. Use it deer hunting, duck hunting and plain camping out during my frequent fishing trips. Unfortunately I was stupid and left the batteries in the case. Of course batteries leaked and ruined the top and bottom of the battery case. Black Diamond responded immediately and sent me a new battery case and top. Got to love this company. My mistake and they fixed me up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OOC1 from Has what I need I received this headlamp as a gift. I really like the AA batteries for extended burn time, and that I can keep them warm inside my layers to preserve battery life. I also like the remote battery pack for weight reasons. I prefer not to have the weight on my head/neck. I have the 200 lumen version. This has proven sufficient light for my purposes (on and off trail, in Mid-Atlantic forest, which can get quite thick with underbrush), in a good throw pattern. The dimming feature, on all 3 light options, is great. I find I don't need the full power at all times; as a matter of fact needing full power for long periods has proven unusual. Another great battery saver. I find the headlamp to have a number of modes, and ease of getting to those modes, that works well for me. Thus far, I have not needed the strobe mode. The lock mode appears useful, but I usually address "false on" issues by either removing batteries from the light, or for this product, disconnecting the male/female connection on the power cord. I very much appreciate the battery meter, presented as a color indicator. I found the power button to operate well while wearing mid-weight gloves. I use the light both on and off trail, and have had no issues with the cord fouling, even in thick vegetation. That could be because the cord runs down the back of my neck and into the chest pocket of a jacket/internal layer; it is quite out of the way. I really like this headlamp. The combination of power, battery life, weight, and ease of use work for my purposes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by KCBiker from Works Great! Purchased to use in winter ultra fsat bike races. It provides plenty of light but I personally don't care for the strap thagt goes over the top of your head. Other than that, all good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Z Foust from Works Great Have used this a couple of times so far and it's great so far. The only major down side I have found is the locking mechanism for the battery pack is easy to break if you don't latch it properly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Teedge from Heavy, but effective. Keeping batteries warm really makes a difference! Bright light...same as my Storm.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Ward from Great headlamp but buy the new redesigned one I love this lamp but it stopped working after only 2 uses. I ended up with the new redesigned one and it's totally worth the extra money. The new one's batteries can be on your head or on a cable to keep it warm int the cold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Icarus from Icon Polar Headlamp Was looking for headlamp that rocks for cold night alpine climbs and found it, bought two. Powerful , bright lamp , as sturdy as it gets. Whoever worries about of couple of ounces extra weight has not experienced going up cold mountain in the middle of the night , having his trail well lit and not worrying about anything.
