Mitrovich/Haden—South Face of Changabang

Haden & Russel Mitrovich on The Horizontal Expedition
Jimmy Haden and Russel Mitrovich arrived in Changabang base
camp on July 1st with 25 porters. Three high altitude porters
helped them carry loads to ABC. Their original plan was to
climb over the Bagini Col, traverse the west face, and climb
up and over to the South Face of Changbang. Once arriving
in ABC this plan was thrown out the door as the Bagani Col
was devoid of snow and now consisted of some of the worse
vertical rock either climber had ever seen.
Plan B was to attempt the North Face of Khalanka. After three
weeks at ABC watching the snow and rain pour off Khalanka,
they decided it unsafe for even an attempt.
Thus, ended one year's planning and thousands of dollars wasted
to watch the snowfall. However, they did come back with lots
of cool rugs for their girlfriends.
