Individuals
Race - Saturday, March 15
- Start
and finish at Alta.
- The
bumps are back! Get your technical skinning game
on ‘cause it’s not a Nordic race. For
the Competitive division, the first 1,200’ are
through moguls as big as yer Mama.
- Everyone
gets The Boot. There is a shared booting section
for both Race & Rec courses.
- The
course is shorter, but more technical.
- Navigation
counts. Paying attention and staying on
track will be fastest.
2008
Individual Race Rules:
- Helmets
are required for everyone.
- The
end of the booting section will have two finish
variations – Direct & Daring
or Round-About & Relaxed. You can do
either one.
- Skis
must be securely carried on a backpack for
the booting section.
- The
existing rules still apply (skis, skins, beacon,
shovel, pass through all control points, yield
to overtaking skiers, be a good sport).
Relay Race – Sunday,
March 16
This is the second Ski Mountaineering
Relay Race in America! Relay races are fun,
fast paced events consisting of teams of four racers.
Each racer does two laps on a short (450’ vertical)
course consisting of an uphill skinning section and
a downhill section through speed control gates. A
baton is passed between team members after two laps
and the first team to finish wins.

Rules
- Teams
will consist of four people, or which at least
one must be of a different gender. (Cross dressing
does not count.) The race organizers will
assemble ad hoc teams if interested racers
don’t
have organized teams. One team of less than
four racers will be allowed to race, but will not
scored. Everyone
gets to race, including anyone over 18 years
old, husbands, wives, supporters, pit crews,
boyfriends, girlfriends, pros, hacks, senior
citizens, democrats, republicans and Canadians.
- All
control gates must be passed through.
- All
racers must wear helmets and use climbing
skins for the ascents. No beacons, shovels,
probes or backpacks are required.
