Rated 2 out of 5 by Patrick from Only turns on siometimes This worked great for the first 2 years that I used it. Now it only turns on when it feels like it. You press the button but nothing happens most of the time. It was my favorite lamp inside my tent, but now I can no longer use it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Ratna from Very temperamental I bought a Black Diamond Orbit, plus a rechargeable battery pack, a few years ago. It is one of the worst outdoor equipment purchases I have ever made. The extra battery pack never worked for more than a few seconds. I suspect the interface with the charger is so bad that the battery is never receiving a serious charge. The basic battery holder with 4 AAAs worked a bit better - but would still blink off unexpectedly at critical times. I sometimes use it at home, during routine power outages

Rated 4 out of 5 by Andrew from Solid tent lantern I like bringing this when I'm camping alone or in my own tent. It works well and the bonus of working as a flashlight is good when you don't have your headlamp handy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Kayaker from Don't depend on it for light This lantern, while a good idea, is terribly executed. It is completely unreliable for backcountry use as it often will not turn on. I have treated it gently and install new batteries when heading out, but it only works half the time. Don't depend on it for light. Completely unreliable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Chuck from Not quite as good as the original It's not as bright, and moving the led to the bottom instead of the top seems to douse it further. Still a good little lantern, just not quite as good as before.

Rated 1 out of 5 by John from Two duds I purchased 2 Orbits from REI two years ago. One is completely dead. The other one functions in lantern mode only. 1 year warranty. I guess I’m out of luck.
