Our mid-sized ultralight ski for technical descents from the Cordillera Blanca to the Canadian Rockies, the Black Diamond Helio 95 ski balances playful, soft-snow performance with technical precision. The Helio’s redesigned pre-preg carbon fiber layup with ABS sidewalls has improved dampness for a smoother ride, yet is extremely light for long approaches and technical ascents. The Helio 95 also maintains a smooth flex and torsional stiffness for reliable, responsive skiing on the way down. Early rise in the tip and tail improves flotation and trail-breaking efficiency, and an ABS tail protector also has an integrated skin-clip tab to keep your skins secure.

Helio 95 Carbon Ski - Past Season is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My First Lightweight Setup This was my first foray into the realm of lightweight. I couldn't be happier. I put the Marker Alpinist on them and had just gotten the Technica Zero G boot. I got these mainly for spring and summer conditions, especially longer/higher/more technical objectives. It's like not having anything on my feet at all and when I pack them, same thing, it's like they aren't even there. I plan on getting the Helio 105 for an all around mid winter ski. Especially because of the rubber dampening sheet in that. As far as skiability, they are a lightweight carbon ski and on ice although very trustworthy, are really noisy and nervous at high speeds. At first, I thought they were too stiff for softer corn and powder, but they definitely relaxed after a bit. Not being too wide, they are really quick edge to edge and I like not having to worry about the leverage on my bindings on really steep terrain. I quit locking my toes a couple years ago. Every time I pick these up, I marvel at how light they are. I still ski aggressively most of the time, but since I am 60, I think they could be a little softer in the tip for easier turn initiation in softer conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great touring ski! I love the 95 Helio Carbons. I've been skiing my pair for two seasons now, and they are my goto ski for everything but heavy crud and sheets of ice. I have mine set up with G3 Ion bindings for a weight-optimized touring ski, but I've found that they handle great in just about all conditions. Light on the up-hill. Plenty of fun and control for both back-country steep downs and in-bounds slopes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very happy with this ski bought this as an east coast ski... that would be light on the uphill, yet could handle firm conditions, and also could be fun in powder. I can say it has exceeded my expectations. Very light on the uphill, decent performance on very firm snow (suffers at speed), and has done VERY well in powder... super fun ski that has managed heavy powder up to 10 inches or so with ease and joy. However, anything that is too crusty or manky just throws this ski around and is not forgiving. Best to avoid those conditions anyway! Bottom line. Fun light powder ski great for sidecountry and resort powder days

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiver of one I bought last year's Helio 95 as my go to touring ski. It's light, stable, responsive and you just need to think about turning for it it carve into the next turn. I don't know about the changes to the this year's Helio, but this is a fine and fun ski that does everything well.
