Dedicated, durable and designed for ice cragging, mixed ascents and cold-weather expeditions, the Black Diamond Mission pack is our toughest alpine pack.

Featuring an updated BD X-rip 420d fabric with UTS™ coating, these packs are now ultra-durable to withstand season after season of mountain abuse. These packs also provide a balanced carry thanks to its SwingArm shoulder straps, and fully strippable waistbelt, lid and frame-sheet. The new custom metal dogbone ice tool attachment provides secure attachment for technical ice tools and mountaineering axes while a front crampon pouch and a tuck-away rope strap secure gear to the outside. Finally, a drawcord skirt provides a second defense against spindrift and light precip.

decent pack

"fabric is super strong, i've bushwhacked quite a bit with it and it still holds up. however the lack of padding on the shoulder straps is a pretty big downside."

Best pack I’ve had

"Bought this right before climbing Mount Baker then Mount Rainier. Absolutely the best choice I made. Zero complaints about this pack and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone."

Great weight for the size

"Great weight for the size - carries very well. Had to send back to have the buckles replaced after first trip as they did not hold adequately to secure the lid or the compression strap on top. Warranty repair was quite fast and appreciate that!"

Nice pack

"This a sturdy but light weight pack Has many pockets"

I've used the pack with

"I've used the pack with loads of about 25#s and 50#s and found it comfortable either way (relatively - I don't think anything over 50#s is ever going to be that comfortable). My torso measures exactly 19" and I tried and returned the S/M before landing on the L/XL. I do feel like it's a bit big for me, but the S/M was way too small. Being a little in between sizes makes the fit imperfect, but I'll put up with it. For the price point I'm still very happy."

Mission 75 Bag

"This bag is great, super lightweight, modular and fits a ton of stuff. Gear dogbone is great and crampon pocket is versatile."

Built for Real Mountain Missions

"As a guide constantly on expeditions that demand both high-capacity carrying and fast access to technical gear, I can confidently say the Black Diamond Mission 75 is in a league of its own. It's the only pack on the market I’ve found that combines a true 75-liter volume with external attachment systems for both ice tools and crampons — a critical feature for alpine professionals who need essential equipment at hand without unpacking the entire load. The updated design improves on the previous version in several key areas. The most noticeable upgrade is the new BD X-rip 420d fabric with UTS™ coating, which is noticeably tougher and more resistant to wear from rock, ice, and metal gear. It feels like it’s built to survive a decade of abuse. One of the most practical new features is the side zipper access to the main compartment. On long days or in high camps, being able to reach deep into the pack without removing the lid saves time and frustration. It’s a small detail that makes a huge difference in real use. Despite its large capacity, the weight remains impressively low. On extended expeditions where every gram matters, this lightness is a major advantage, especially considering how robust the pack is. It’s stripped down where it matters, but still fully featured. Other standout features: The custom metal dogbone ice tool attachments and PickPockets™ are extremely secure, even with technical tools. The removable hipbelt, lid, and frame sheet allow you to customize the pack for summit pushes or lighter days. The moisture-wicking back panel and redesigned shoulder harness noticeably improve comfort over long carries. The tuck-away rope strap and crampon pouch make this pack truly expedition-ready."

Bomber Pack

"Just took the pack out in its debut trip up to Nipigon Ontario to climb some ice. Pack was stellar. Padding is perfect on the hips, suspension felt great. Had plenty of storage for all my gear and then some. Tools stayed secure and crampons didn't leave a dent in the material. Very happy with this purchase."

Josh K. (5/5)

Satisfied so far

"Have not used it yet but so pleased with the detail and finish. A hut ski trip is in order."

Mark E. (5/5)

Great Backcountry Backpack

"Used this pack for some longer days at the crag, as well as a couple night camping in the backcountry. Comfortable and exactly what I needed."
