Wasatch Classics: Skiing The Whipple With Noah HowellMonday, February 12, 2018
The Whipple gains entry into the "classic" realm due to its location and geography. There are very few south-facing chutes that drop into Big Cottonwood canyon, this aspect allows it to stabilize quickly and its upper elevation means it gets large amounts of snow, both great qualities for skiing! The most distinguishing thing is the crazy terrain, crazy spines, pillows and features lining the couloirs walls. Skiing here is like making turns in the heart of a Dr. Seuss book. After several attempts last year, we finally nailed it in deep powder making for a day I'll never forget.
