For many climbers, climbing is a way of life, and Silvia too sees climbing as a tool to enjoy her partners, nature, climbs, mountains and travel. She loves to share climbing with a friend, but she also loves solitude. Big wall climbing provides her an opportunity to be alone in a remote area everything that goes with it—the adventure of exploration and the isolation as a way to face it, among other things. All of the climbs she has done all over the world, the experiences and situations have all become a part of her. She carries them with her, and they help her to dream, and she is thankful to climbing for that.

When did you first start climbing/skiing?
In 1994 when I was studying PE at the University and I was part of a team that participated in a “MultiAdventure Competition” that lead to first contact with the climbing world. Previously I was doing athletics.

Success is when whatever the result is, you can feel that your effort was worth it.
What are you most proud of, either in life, your sport or both?
I can’t separate them.
Who are your heroes?
I don’t have heroes, only people whom I respect. Climbers or not.
What inspires you?
The silence, an intense landscape, the desert, the sun, the stars, the sea… Nature and some people as well.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Tea, the sugar being the guiltiest part.
What are your hidden talents?
They want to keep hidden from others curiosity.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a sport teacher.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be, and why?
I think we can always change almost everything about ourselves and at least we should try. I’m sorry that with this answer I didn’t totally answer the question…
Tell us about a time in your life when you have been scared:
Many. Telling just about the expeditions: Scared for a new project, scared for the weather conditions, for a big potential fall, for a wild animal, for a dangerous river crossing. But never scared enough to decide to not confront it.
Describe your perfect day:
I don’t have a prefect day list. But for example, a perfect day could be a day when something happens that surprises you pleasantly.
How would your friends describe you?
You should ask them!
