On June 17, 2023, BD Athlete Hillary Gerardi claimed the coveted female “fastest known time” of Mont Blanc. A project that was years in the making, Hillary’s historic FKT was documented by Davina and Seb Montaz-Rosset, which has culminated in the beautiful film, “Always Alive.” Directed by Davina, with incredible cinematography taken right from the mountain by Seb, this documentary not only captures Hillary’s ascent and descent, but also dives deeper into the complexities surrounding the project: namely climate change.

“Climate change is changing seasonality in the mountains and making it harder and harder to predict when there may be good conditions and weather window,” explained Hillary in an interview with Runner’s World.

Using the much sought-after FKT to elevate the topic of climate change—both in the Alps and globally—Hillary, Davina, and Seb have created a powerful film that captures the soul of the mountains—a beauty that is fleeting.

“Always Alive” is currently premiering in film festivals around the world. Below is a list of festival showings that we’ll be continually updating so you can see the film on the big screen.
