Rated 5 out of 5 by sprockter from Great advanced functions but simple to use I love this transceiver and would recommend it to anyone. The best feature is its "Scan" function, which scans for # of burials within 5, 20, and 50m. It is a great mental map feature. All its other features work great (group check function, marking feature, inclinometer et al) too while its search strip width is one of the largest on the market (60m!). It does NOT have analog capabilities, but after taking my AvSAR course/exams, I was very happy to have this beacon over others. Of course, it does come down to personal preference sometimes. I just like that it provides the pro-level features I want and does away with features I don't care for. Highly recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by reuse232 from Good beacon, but harness is questionable. Beacons are impressive and I'm (we're) very satisfied. Glad to upgrade to digital and find it's benefits after using analog for years. Didn't notice a difference in multiple beacon searches (searching for 5) regarding having the Pieps DSP Pro adjust antennae so that it made itself the strongest signal so that it was found first. Seems this is marketing-speak for advertising purposes. It was found with no difference when compared to others. It performed extremely well on all counts. Performed well with both searching and sending and do not notice orientation issues. Will recommend the DSP Sport as an option to clients and friends looking for affordability and the DSP Pro to my professional friends seeking the added features. I like the Scan option and frequency measurement. The inclinometer on the beacon is handier than routing about for even more stuff when I'm already wearing a very accessible beacon. Was not too impressed with the sewing on lower elastic adjustable harness strap as the stitching literally fell apart when first trying it on. Looked like faulty sewing that was not properly finished nor hardly catching the lower strap during manufacturing near the buckle. We're using the beacon every day, so we simply re-sewed ourselves and didn't want to waste time trading it in for another poorly sewed one. We also decided to use cement on the sewing so that neither strap on both our harnesses falls apart in the future. Otherwise no complaints. Excellent beacon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Way Way from Best I’ve owned’ I’ve had this for a month and use it while ski patrolling. Luckily it’s only ever been used for scenarios. I find the buried beacons first 9 out of 10 times. It’s the Pieps keeping me on top of my game for sure!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Clifford Huckstable from So Fast! I haven't really gotten a whole lot of use out of my new Pieps yet but my first impressions are almost all positive. The first thing I noticed over my old transceiver is just how fast this one picks up signals. When practicing with a friend almost as soon as I change my transceiver over to Search it picks up the other people in the area. Functions seem intuitive especially for marking multiple burials and doing group check. I like that the screen lights up when in Search mode. It's a good visual indicator that you are still in search mode. The range is also very impressive, it's one of the reasons I went for the Pro vs over the Sport version. My only two gripes are with switching between modes and the weight. It can be a little difficult, with gloves on, to depress the unlock button and it's easy to pass Send from Search and accidentally turn the transceiver off. I was also a little surprised by how heavy the unit is but I'm coming from an old Mammut single antenna unit which has a lot less metal in it so of course it's a lot lighter but it also doesn't work nearly as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RobMtn from Pro-Features Set it Apart It's been a bomb-proof beacon. Traveled all over the nation skiing/climbing with it and it's held up remarkably well over the last 2.5 years. Battery life is outstanding. Inclinometer feature real simple to activate. My back country buddies rely on me to check their non-PIEPS PRO beacons for correct frequency transmissions. It's the go-to beacon among our mountain rescue and bc skiing crew.

Rated 5 out of 5 by David from Best I've used. Rescue function: It works great. The multi-burial scenario flagging works better than others I have tried. Also, it plays some games on the transmitter side to reduce signal overlap, and improve transmission if it detects interference. It seems reliable so far, and the range is the best of the newer digital transceivers I have used. Other: I really like the ability to test the frequency of other transceivers, and I am looking forward to picking up the compatible dog-collar when it is back in stock. Also, it is fairly small and light, and the harness works well.
