Rated 5 out of 5 by Ogre from Light, simple and comfy I’ve used this in all sorts of conditions. Easy to put on while wearing crampons and lots of layers. Decent gear loops. I sometimes miss the belay loop but the tied in rope or another HMS do work really well. Superb, light and reliable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Scoop from It does what expensive harnesses don't Of note, you can easily put it on or take it off when wearing crampons or have your skis on. Not many harnesses have this feature, and that save a lot of frustration and time. It really should include clipper slots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AveryM from Safe and Simple I needed a new harness and when I found this I did a little bit of research and knew I had to have it. When I received it I was blown away. It’s so simple to put on and when you tighten everything up to your body you truly feel safe. I seriously love this harness.

Rated 4 out of 5 by pnwmountaineer from a more comfortable "alpine" harness This is a light weight alpine harness. None of them are comfortable! You are sacrifice all the padding for lighter weight. I formerly had Petzl tour harness. The Black Diamond straps are wider and MUCH more comfortable. I read some reviews saying there was no belay loop??? There clearly is a belay loop. You need to read the directions (on the inside of the harness) to see that it does have a belay loop, and just how it attaches. See pic. Again,weight/strapping has been cut down to reduce weight. This was not intended for hours of gym climbing, hence "alpine" harness. Because this harness is more strapping than padding, it also dries more quickly after use in alpine environments.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Cruise from Durable but uncomfortable I've used this harness on a lot of alpine climbs over the years but I'm ready to transition to something more comfortable. I like that it is possible to put on and take off over large boots and crampons. However it is incredibly uncomfortable and even painful to repel in this harness. Since there isn't a belay loop the webbing pulls taut across my crotch even on low angle rapels. This is fairly obvious but I do enough rappelling on alpine climbs that I don't see a point to having a harness I never want to rapel in. I also find it difficult to open a carabiner attached to the front area when the harness is weighted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Randy from Awesome Harness for Children I have purchased several of these over the years for kids. Simple, very adjustable as they grow, wide straps for comfy hoists up top rope climbs, and they get gear loops so they can carry a biner or two like the big boys ! As far as the comment about no belay loop, I usually just clip the leg loop strap to the waist belt with a big locking biner and they are set to go all day.

Rated 2 out of 5 by SLIVEN from Not great for indoor climbing, not the best for alpine climbing Not a great harness. It doesn't come with a belay loop so not ideal for use indoors where you are not tied in to belay. There are better more modern harnesses available at a similar price for use indoors and if you want an alpine harness then the BD couloir or DMM Super couloir are much better in my opinion.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Paul from A Super Reliable Choice for Winter I own an older version of this warhorse. It's a super reliable choice for winter because you can easily put it on, or take it off, without taking boots or crampons off, and it doesn't collect snow or ice. It doesn't have a belay loop, so be ready for that. The lack of belay loop is part of what makes it so easy to put on/take off while wearing boots. And if you're planning to carry a heavy pack while wearing a harness, choose the BD Couloir Harness instead; the near-rigid gear loops on this harness will dig into your hips if you're wearing it under a heavy pack's hip belt.
