How-to Video: Fitting Black Diamond Gloves and Mitts

Crag Gloves is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Crag Gloves Review As a climber and professional mountain guide, I have been using these gloves for years. They are lightweight, breathable, have excellent dexterity, and are protective. However, Black Diamond could really improve these gloves. They are not very durable and wear through quickly, specifically on the index finger and thumb. If they added a lightweight leather palm and thumb wrap, the gloves would be much more durable and long-lasting. Another idea for improvement would be to re-locate the carabiner clip loop from the velcro wrist strap to the underside of the wrist portion of the glove. Eliminating the velcro altogether and simply having an elastic wrist band would prevent the velcro from catching slings, which is quite inconvenient at times. Aside from these ideas for improvements, these are my favorite belay/rappel gloves for both guiding and personal climbing. Lightweight and breathable, it is a no-brainer to throw them in the pack and save your skin for when it matters...while climbing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gloves These are great gloves for rock scrambling on Colorado peaks. Tough material has held up well to sharp rocks. Also adds a bit of warmth on the chilly mornings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for scrambling Hike in an environment with lots of sharp rock and cactus scrambles... These are fantastic for making sure I can work on Monday morning (I am a physical therapist and need my hands). Fit is great and I am really pleased with these. My wife loves her set as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Second pair This is my second pair of crag gloves. I bought the first crag gloves over a year ago and use them regularly. There are no signs of excessive wear or tear on them. I will give them a 5 star review if I get another year out of them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works as expected, despite design flaws and QC The materials are fine, but the sewing is poorly done. I had to flame several spots to keep the loops from catching and unravelling. Additionally, the two sewn loops for supporting the packaging for shelf hanging were heat cut. The hard edge is very abbrasive on the wrist. I cut the loops out, but the poor stitching in this area is unlikely to hold in the long run. This has been a constant issue even with the half-fingers models in years past. QC needs to step up. These gloves are long for a size medium, especially if your ring finger is longer than your index finger. I love BD, but these need to step up.
