Engineered for speed approaches, the Black Diamond Mission LT is the approach shoe you want for mountain adventures that push the barriers in both scale and technical terrain. Designed with a sock-like, bootie fit, that’s reinforced with a webbing cinch system, the Mission LT is lightweight and slips on to provide security and comfort that lasts all day. The Mission LT features our signature EnduroKnit, which is a one-piece, ultra-breathable upper for lasting temperature regulation that’s hyper-durable for season after season of abuse. Mission LT Approach Shoes - Men's is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for rock approaches. These shoes fit my somewhat narrow feet very well, but I would think that wide feet may feel a bit confined in them. They are comfortable for hiking and the sole rubber is great for approaches that involve any boulder hopping or rocky slabs. Sizing is on the small side; my normal street shoe is 9 and these in a 9.5 are still slightly snug in the toes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good 1st try; changes needed Purchased in early summer, the Mission LT has been my go-to for Northern Wasatch hikes/approaches. They are supporting a 6-3/185lb user. In my experience, the shoe is a really well conceived and (mostly) well executed So what's the beef? Rubber is great, as is pattern (e.g., heel wear points/edging). Mesh and guards are solid. Lacing and pull tabs likewise. And the interior (w/ a green insole from Superfeet) is comfy and fits well for my relatively narrow feet. But then there's the midsole... A stone plate (or more dense midsole material) is really needed in future iterations of the shoe. Moderate gravel/stone edges poke at your foot, creating excess pressure points even in the first days of use, when only walking, and with no pack on. A midsole's resistance only lessens as it gets older. The material's density also means the shoe deforms/flexes too much when edging/bouldering. Finally, the snug foam collar fit is a bit of a pressure point, which makes me (for my skinny feet) apt to not lace the shoe very firmly on the upper laces. Even laced that way, it's a relatively stable fit in rough terrain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and durable Very pleased with these shoes. They fit true to size-ordered my size 10.5 and they fit just right. Love the sock-like fit and the soles which are rigid but not to the point of being uncomfortable. I think they will last a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scramble and Ramble shoe Bought this to do the Tuolumne Triple in and do Hulk approaches because it had more support and was lighter than my former Tennies. Was not disappointed. Rubber stickiness and sock fit gave me confidence to go parking lot to top of tenaya faster than ever. The lugs and trail brake kept me secure in my footing on and off trail and at the end of 13 miles of running and scrambling my feet felt good enough to drive down to the valley to keep climbing for the day. Still might not be my shoes to clip to my harness on multipitch involving squeezes, chimneys, or wide, but that's not what it seems to be intended for, so I can't knock it there. I sized up a half size for comfort and altitude foot swelling. Street size would be a precise, technical fit, but not good for all day I think.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like a hug for your feet! Super comfy, true to size. I usually wear 11 or 11.5. I got an 11 because I wanted to have a snugger fit for climbing in them and they are perfect! My toe just touches the end and they are not too tight on my wider feet. Great traction on rock and trails. Good for easy climbing. I would highly recommend them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Approach Shoe Been using this shoe to approach and climb peaks in Colorado. This shoe fits true to size, is comfortable and the rubber is sticky.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Fit - Lightweight and Sticky I originally bought these for use when approaching local crags after a longish hike and needed something comfortable to walk in, plus confidence inspiring when scrambling up to the base. They worked very well for this purpose. The fit extremely well, and feel very lightweight. They are also sticky enough for scrambling around the rocks. I used them perhaps beyond their intended purpose when I did a three-day Sierra trip to climb a Class 3 route, they held up very well and I didn't have any hot spots even though I was hiking with a three-day backpack. My only complaint was that my toes tended to drive into the front of the shoe, but this should be expected for a low top and it wasn't really bad. Great shoe! I'd love to see a high-top GTX version of it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Light Shoes with Good Grip These shoes fit true to size and are very comfortable. I wore these shoes for the first time on the approach to the Grand Teton. I then climbed the Upper Exum Ridge, hiked down the mountain in the rain, and crossed snow in these shoes. These shoes gripped on rock that I thought I would slip on. The shoes are light and never gave my feet any blisters, despite not breaking them in before a big trek. I will be using these shoes for more peaks. As another reviewer added, the durability is questionable. The shoes are already starting to show signs of wear, especially on the white sides.
